As I said before, May 23rd would be the only day that makes sense to me as May 30 is a holiday. But wouldn't Nintendo want to make sure their faithful are ready with cash in hand?
You mean cards, right?

I suspect that "late May" will end up being July-ish. At least, that's what usually happens. I wonder if the disasterducken will have caused delays...

+1 to the June/July suspicions. This is software development, folks. You have a deadline. You break it. It's as simple as that. Nothing ever goes according to plan and the black screen crash will have only slowed them down.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see it pushed back now, considering it's May, and we've gotten no further wind of a firm date. I can see them really combing over their security for the system after the whole PSN fiasco. Nintendo doesn't want that PR nightmare. BSOD doesn't really help either.

I wake up every day and try to update, knowing full well the update isn't going to be ready - sad? Quite probably.

I would be surprised, nintendo has done pretty well with their release dates for the 3ds, so I think that this has been planned, I'm thinking that it's already in the system, they just need to "unlock" it.

STOP SAYING JUNE/JULY!!!!! I refuse to believe the eShop will be delayed past May! They can't do that to me! I fear I would have a conniption if they delayed it. I really don't think they will push it out of May. I honestly am not surprised in the least that despite it being May , we still have no firm date. Its classic Nintendo to do that. My guess is that one of these Mondays in May, it will just happen with no prior notification in typical Nintendo fashion.

I've come quite close to doing that myself but I never go through with for fear that it might mess up my 3DS.

Oh man. I hope the update isn't delayed. May is already so boring since the PSN is down and there's no PSN store updates. Plus DSiware & Wiiware have not been great (no good demos lately even) and the 3DS is good...but....come on! Everyone knows the EShop and Browser should have been available at launch...
Oh and if its delayed, they won't be able to bring out the 3DS Eshop sales numbers at E3 nor talk about how cool the 3DS has been so far without most people going "Ya, but you guys never did bring out that EShop or browser or..."
Nintendo NEEDS to get the The EShop, at least, out in late May. So at E3 they can talk about how much people having been buying from it & using it. And tease the future stuff. Plus, they could even bring out some 3D videos on the Eshop for all of the games that they show off at E3. NOW THAT would be a great way to tease future 3DS games.
I guess I'd be ok if they delayed the browser. Happy, no, but OK, But the EShop...it just needs to come out.

Yeah, that could be one of the reasons. Good thinking there, Toky.
And like you, DF2506, i also hope that they offer the update at least a whole week before the E3 show. So people could get accustomed to it, it would still feel very fresh and they could hopefully make some awesome announcements then. All else would be quite disappointing. I mean the greatest thing would be a live feed from the show available on your 3DS with the trailers for 3DS being in 3D too. That would really show that they understand their customers
All that said it's very crucial that they make an oline shop that nearly everybody can happily live with. Including customers, developers, publishers and all the like. If it takes longer to achieve that so what.

I'm surprised Nintendo still hasn't announced pricing for the Gameboy games yet. Anything more than 4 dollars each would be too much. Hurry up with the update dangit my 3DS feels so empty without it.
I hope they're cheap too, but I really can't agree with that. There's some Gameboy games were anything more than $5 would be crazy.. but things like Mario Land, Pokemon Red & Blue and Link's Awakening are all amazing games, at least as good as some of the top tier NES games and at least have much more content.
So I'd imagine they'll be priced around the same as NES games.

I think they would have had to mention a delay at their investor's meeting because it will also affect their revenue. However lack of a proper confirmation is weird(although there has been a few leaks and hints about eshop related stuff).

Once again, Nintendo needs to get the ball rolling. So, this update needs to launch this month. Nintendo doesn't want early adopters to start trading the system in as a result of a delay.

I bet the 3DS update will be on a Monday like the normal Wii and Dsi shop updates. I'm just going to try updating my 3DS every monday this month until it finally kicks in. I still have this sinking feeling it's going to get held back longer than we think.

I think it's going to be around May 30th. I've set a google alert for '3DS E-shop Release Date', so when any news comes up, i'll post it here straight away, but yeah, the 3DS desperately needs 3DSWare or whatever it will be called. The first properly very good 3DS game will be Ocarina Of Time 3DS (Pre-ordered from Amazon for £29.91!) and i'm sick to hell of playing SSFIV, Ridge Racer, Pilotwings, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, and Super Monkey Ball, and for god's sake i have 5 3ds games but some people have none! (I spose i have had it since launch though and played about 500 hours on my 3DS in total), but come on Nintendo, hurry up with the E-shop!
