I've decided I'm gonna let my 3DS get a complete charge before I turn it on for the first time. Its gonna be the longest 1-2 hour wait of my life watchin that thing sit in its cradle charging but I don't wanna risk stunting the battery.

Don't quote me on this (I heard it from someone no more qualified than you or me) but I've been told the best way to train a battery is, upon first use, to run it all the way down until it runs out of batteries, then give it a full charge.

I didn't realize that the battery uses batteries :D

I agree. You have to completely drain the battery before charging.

These were a lot of fun to read! :) I have the 25th off work and am getting dropped off at the shop at 8am. So when I pick my 3DS up the first thing I'm going to do is:
1. A happy dance in the shop while hugging the box.
2. Make my way to the bus where I'll open the box and start reading the instructions.
3. At home I'll finally turn it on where I'll have no distractions and can see just what the 3DS looks like.
4. Get on here and see what everyone else thinks.
I'm also looking forward to seeing the reactions of the other people in the shop who turn up at 8am to collect theirs.

Sure it's okay, but it'll drain the battery life over time.

You think it's better to fully charge it before using it?

Yes, I think so. Don't charge the battery when it's half-full. Wait until the battery dies.

Lol, I feel like a hypocrite because I don't do that at all. I just play and charge, even though I know it's not good for the battery.

I'm pretty sure that's only the case with older rechargable batteries, not newer lithium-ion ones like the 3DS uses. I think those you can charge and dicharge as much and as often as you like (within reason) without causing damage. In fact, letting a li-ion battery fully discharge can actually cause damage! And what about the first charge? Should I play and wait until the battery dies or what?

I think the first thing I'm going to do is play with the AR cards.

haha save the fact that I'd be playing Sony consoles, really I would play around with the camera a bit (after messing with settings and stuff). since I wouldn't have any new software yet, I'd probably mess with those AR cards some after the camera fun wears off.

I don't think it really matters, but since the manual says to fully charge it before its first use I'd do that.
