In terms of games which do you prefer? I'm a fan of Action, Arcade, Adventure, TPS, FPS, and fighting. ≧◠◡◠≦

I enjoy all genres to an extent but prefer these three.

RPG and Fighting games, for entirely converse reasons. One's an easy game I can play leisurely and may require somethinking but generally not skill. The other is tough as nails, generally require lots of skill rather than thinking, and I have to take them more seriously in order to win.

Runner up is adventure games. They're sort of the mid-point between the two, and on top of that I enjoy getting lost in an interesting world, coupled with a general sense of discovery.

Rhythm games are at the top by a lot

Then (estimated order)

Platformers
Action/Adventure
Puzzlers (only innovative ones like Crush3D, not casual play like Bejeweled or Zuma clones)
Shooters
RPGs

This is a signature.

I gear most towards, adventure, action, or rpg. It's probably why I like Zelda II more than most people, though I still acknowledge how hard it is.

Backloggery. Now playing: 3D Dot Game Heroes, Donkey Kong, EarthBound Beginnings, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, and Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+.

Just out of curiousity, how can you not be good at a JRPG? You seem like you handle Pokemon just fine. A lot of JRPGs aren't even as complex as pokemon in terms of gameplay. Action-RPGs I can see, since they require skill, but a turn-based one just requires some basic planning.

It always surprises me for a second that Nintendo fan forums seem to be the only place that people don't flood these kinds of threads to say "RPG" - as in western RPGs.

But then I realise that Nintendo consoles never have western RPGs, which explains it, really.

I hope that the Wii U changes that. I'd hate for some potential fans of the genre to miss out.

I'm looking at your Backloggery right now...you always seem to pick the old-school RPGs that pretty much require grinding. Except for Final Fantasy III, which is only hard if you don't pick the right classes. And Chrono Trigger can kinda be beaten in your sleep, outside of boss fights, which just take a little though and mild preparation.

But then you got a lot of Dragon Quest. Dragon Quest isn't hard, you just have to have the best equipment you can get, which means grinding for lots of gold. In 9, you have to do side quests and alchemy to get the better stuff, which means more grinding. The biggest hurdle is just knowing where to go, which is usually solved by talking to everybody. Or just walking until you encounter something you can't kill quickly, in which case, turn around. At least you don't have something like Etrian Odyssey. That requires a lot of forward thinking, knowing your limits, and grinding, to the point where I actually struggle with them. Strange Journey is a bit along those lines, too, but not quite. It really isn't a newbie friendly game, but it isn't unforgiving and relentless, either.

Hm... I guess JRPG's for me, although I can't think of a single genre I really dislike. I kind of like anything if it's quality.

There are many genres of games that I enjoy, I suppose RPGs would be my favorite. Bonus points if it's an Action-RPG.
