Topic: What to do on 3DS seeing as there are no games.

Although the built in games alone could keep me entertained until May, (Am I the only one that enjoys playing around with the AR Mii Studio? Now that I have Corbs' Mii, the possibilities are endless!) I also find Pilotwings and Ghost Recon to be good if not great. If you only bought the system to play Mario Kart in 3D, well, I guess the launch lineup would not be that good in your opinion. Seriously though, who buys a game system just to play Mario Kart?

Zelda isn't worth $40? So... have you ever played it? o.O

So if there were no games to your liking that came out at launch why did you run out and buy the 3DS??? Besides the price thats one of the main reasons I havent bought one yet. The only game that really interested me was SSFIV and since I already have that on the Xbox I dont see a reason for me getting it on the 3DS.

I bought mine at launch because of the price. I couldn't see Nintendo dropping the price in the next year or two and I could see a shortage possible happening like what happened to the Wii (I know that didn't happen but I was preparing for the possibility). Pre-ordering is also easier on the budget since you can treat a pre-order like a layaway and put a bit on it here and there over a few months instead of paying a lump sum of money for the console and games when they do come out. $400 for a console and a couple games plus tax is harder to swallow all at once.

Buying a system before the games come is quite economical for a system that you know will have games considering the legacy of its predecessor.

I expected a drought of games after but since part of our entertain budget was used on the system and there are few games for it, I think the question of what to do with the system is a valid question. I plan on using my time not on my 3DS but plan on playing my backlog of games.

Dang it I never thought of it that way. If I did I could have easily had a 3DS now . Oh well now I know that for the next system.

Indeed. £39.99 in GAME and HMV stores. Ridiculous.

At my local GAME and HMV they're £35, but I still think that's a touch too expensive. Two 3DS games would be £70. I know that's obvious maths but when it's put like that, it does seem ridiculous.

Well according to this site, over a quarter of the launch titles are "must haves" lol

Anyways this is exactly why I'm waiting. If I wait long enough, I might just wait for the revision. The 3DSlite or whatever.

There are 18 3DS games in my territory. What territory do you live in?

I think it depends on the store. In the town where I work they're £40 but in th etown where I live they launched at £35. Not been back since so I'm not sure if they've changed.

let's face it... the launch games just suck (moving on lol/ prepares for complainers)

Now I didn't previously own a ds (just nothing really caught my eye except a few games) but once I saw the 3ds (update graphics, 3d, oot remake??? awesome!) I picked it up and while not caring for the 3ds launch titles I picked up the Ds titles that I was interested in: Both Zelda games and KH: Re Coded.

Your opinion on the launch games. How many have you even played to make the generalization that they all suck? Love this assumption that you just speak for everyone.

let's see...
Tried out street fighter 4, SMB and ghost recon from a friend ( really nothing interesting... a port of a game I've already played through on two different systems, a poor version of SMB and a boring RTS game (would rather play Fire emblem thank you ) Pilot wings at local bestbuy (borring...) Ridge racer (really just a poor racing game would rather wait for Mario kart)

I mean heck if everyone wants to say they are great they can... but when the actual good games come along these will (with the exception of SSIV because likely that will be the best fighting game for a while.) all be considered mediocre.

You're all missing the point. Which is that the topic creator wants to play the Nintendo series that has the least amount of changes from game to game.

Look guys , even though some of the games aren't as good as they could be I'm buying 3rd party games only right now for a simple reason: to get more on the system. They've all been fighting for second place on nintendo systems decades. I honestly would love to see a descent 3rd party library unlike what we have with the wii. Maybe It'll convince them to move major franchises such as final fantasy or a bungie title over to the 3ds and who wouldn't want to hear of another DOA on a nintendo system.

These launch titles are no different than launch titles from every past generation of gaming. We know they're not perfect as developers are still getting a handle on the new hardware, but this, to me, is one of the most diverse and enjoyable launch lineups I've experienced for a game system in all my years of gaming. Sure future titles will likely be more polished and more flashy, but I don't think it's going to take that much away from this first batch of games. And if you don't see anything you like in the launch group, wait to buy the system (or play it) when there is something you want. Simple.

I just have RR3D , SMB and Black to play but I bought It at launch so I could just pick the game I want and not have to set up an entire system.

street fighter 4 3d is worth all its $$$. it got lots of content, there is a good learning curve, that will make you play for long. the kind of game that you will still play now and then years after you got it.
im not of fan of fighting games, but i really enjoy this title.

i tried some other games and i agree, most are not worth 40-45$. Diver was... not worth it. it feels like youre playing a 5-10$ indie game on iphone. fun, but certainly not 40$ worth. Rayman is old recycled thing. it was fun years ago, it still is, but certainly not 45$. man, you can find the original for 5$ in a bargain bin hahaha
nintendogs could be a solution, but im not into petting virtual animals. just not my hype.
puzzle bubble got the same feeling as diver. Small app for iphone game.
That's about all i tried so far.
Pilotwing seems interesting, but i doubt i would go get it for 40$. ill wait for used copies.
the buy list of nintendo life is trustable. check it carefully, you might be surprised.
and yes, i was very disapointed too with the launch titles. except street fighter, nothing gives me the wow effect, or makes me wanna urge to it.
and about the next zelda remake, i was too disapointed until i saw the screenshots. they remade the graphics, add new features (same as gamecube) and opened a door to new content.
a title i will strongly think wether i buy it or not.

wait for may if youre not sure. a lot will open in may

Try perfecting every mission in Pilotwings, should take you a while.
No games? Pah some people are just greedy. The lauch line up, while lacking a truly killer app ( I don't think Streetfighter was TBH) is a very varied ,mainly competent line up.Do you people really expect massive RPG's , FPS's etc at launch. Whats the weather like on your planet? The truly great games will come, in the meantime enjoy your new system ,try a launch title you normally wouldn't try and just be patient. now where the f*&k is Zelda and Resi.grrrrrrr.........

What's this bit for again?

Papa_Godzilla

and seriously, do you think nintendo will leave their awesome system ?

expect a new mario, a new zelda, a new metroid, a new freaking every nintendo's character game based title.
why wouldnt they ? it would be ridiculous.
look how many zeldas there is on the gameboy lineup. more than consoles do!
