Topic: What size SD card can the 3DS hold?

My 16GB SanDisk SD card works well, it's certainly not slow. The procedures on Nintendo's web site copied all my data over perfectly.

The class specifies the write speed, which I don't think will much impact with a 3DS; write speed matters if you're writing video or lots of photos to the card. On a 3DS you'll be writing tiny amounts of game data to the card, you shouldn't notice any delay there even on a slow card. The read speed is far more important as you'll be loading games and levels from the card. My card's read speed is 30mb/s.

the 2 GB card will hold plenty, probably 50 NES/GBA games

You're looking at probably up to 16MB per GBA game and up to 500KB per NES game. Based on these numbers a 2GB card could hold a minimum of 125 GBA games or a minimum of 4000 NES games.

2GB is fine if you only plan on holding GBA and NES games on it. I think I'll go well above that just to play it safe just in case there happens to be some nice free 3D movies that pop up or who knows what.

I have 6 3DSware, 10 demos, 10 GBA, 10 NES and barely have put a dent in my 4GB.

I just have a question about SD cards in general: are Transcend SD cards alright? Because I found one on Amazon for pretty cheap.

@L4DYK0M1C as stated by Nintendo, the 3DS only supports up to 32 GB. However, I think 8GB is more than enough.. for me.. anyway.

Not extremely into nintendo at the moment, but not really into anything else either. :|

I got 16GB (I know it's a heck of a lot ) since I have many other things besides games, demos, etc.
and I think only about 4GB or more is taken up. (probably more)

I had the chance of a cheap 32GB once and so I thought I may as well go for it seeing as that is the max SD card size it can hold, Got loads of space spare and cant see myself needing anything else through the hanhelds lifetime. Cant remember what I paid as such but I do remember (because of the offer) most SD cards were similar in price with just a couple of quid between sizes.
