So I just finished the first run through of Super Mario 3D Land. I ended up getting every star coin on every level, so I was pretty proud of myself. I don't have a lot of time, I work 12 hours a day and have a 2 year old, but I was pretty addicted to this game! I really liked just that it was plain old fun. Mario games really are everything that's great about video games on a basic level. The graphics were beautiful, the 3D was awesome, and the last castle was really awesome in my opinion. I'm half way through the 3rd world in the Special Stages, hoping to beat all of them too. So far I've been... not as effective. I'm not the best gamer to begin with.
Anyway, this game has been great. What games have you played on the 3DS that consume you and make you love gaming all over again? I want to play mario 64 DS now!
Tales of the Abyss. It reminded me of why I love RPG's in the first place. a large colorful world (even if the graphics don't push the 3DS, as a PS2 game) with lots of places to visit, a fun & likeable cast (even if a little cliché at times), 50 hour length (not counting side quests), fun & accessable battle system, a great story that has plenty of intrigue, action, and humor (especially the almost constant stream of skits, which really made everything seem to come alive).
This was a tough choice, with other awesome games such as DOAD, OoT3D, and MGS3D in my library, but in the end, I believe TotA is my absolute favorite.
Thearhythm Final Fantasy - very good game indeed, I'm not sure how much content this game has, but it just keeps coming and until it ends I think I'll be happy with this game forever.
Awesome thoughts everyone. @RR529 - I have Tales of the Abyss in my library but I haven't started it yet. I love RPGs and I picked it up for the very reasons you listed here. It's great to know I made a good choice.
I was hoping to originally trade 3D Land on NSMB2 but now I think I'll keep it. I wasn't expecting it to be so much fun and I really want to finish the special stages. I went from 50 lives to about 8 the other night but that's mostly because it was 2 am and I had just gotten off work and I was tired. I'll keep my excuses thank you.
I do really want NSMB2 though... sounds like everyone's having a blast with it.
