It would be painfully hypocritical since Nintendo has said many times that they want DLC to be worth the money spent and unless you are easily amused at plastic statues (and yes I am burying collectors, deal with it)...no.

I don't think it would make it worse just people would not be inclined to buy over 700 pokemon figures to play a game with.

If it were limited to special Pokemon, I think this would be a good idea, but rather than $10 for one it would be for four. By special Pokemon, I mean something like a Tentacruel that has Ground as a secondary type rather than Poison.

I object since saying "that would make the franchise worse" applies that it is already bad which I only see as someone's opinion and not a fact.

I have my many gripes with the Pokémon franchise, but that's mostly because it refuses to make any substantial improvements, because it never risks change. When I say this is one of the few things that would make the franchise worse I mean that it's one of the few plausible (and sadly possible) ideas that would really damage the franchise, and shouldn't even be attempted. I'm not one to complain about the Pokémon franchise making changes unless those changes happen to be as ridiculous as this one...

Insta-not buy for me. Waaay too much $, effort, storage space for me to even consider it. Besides, there are 62 Skylanders figures to (soon to be) 700+ Pokémons, excluding additional formes, colors, gender differences, etc. I'd rather have Nintendo stick to companion apps (Dream Radar, Pokédex apps) to further monetize Pokémon games beyond the games themselves (not to mention everything else that franchise has, from the TCG to spinoff franchises to merchandise to TV Shows to the manga to anything else Serebii.net doesn't cover) than try to convert the core games into a cash-sucking monster. Actually, now that I think about it, a limited-scope Skylanders-esque game with only a handful of Pokémon in it may be fun, but even then I just don't have the resources needed to make the most out of it.

Normally I'd agree that 700 figures would be asking a bit much, however at the last moment this gave me a idea; They could make us a simpler version for AR battles, maybe voice recognition. Other than that, no offense, but some TCGs in genereal are kinda overrated, or at least the 1s that don't have to be, like Naruto cards I saw, DBZ I think, etc.

Oh lord no. They're comming up on 700 pokemon when you factor in X and Y (at least 50 new ones) So to accomplish one of the game's main goals (catcing em' all) you'd be dropping $7000 if they charged 10 bucks each like you suggested.

Don't forget the shinies! ...and here and there alternate forms.

That's basically the reason I quit Yu-Gi-Oh. I prefer to just buy the game and have all the Pokemon available to me free. I can't afford to constantly buy packs or a bunch for one card. Buuuuttt.....
Assuming the figures are posable and well detailed I'd probably be broke on the street within a week.

it wouldnt work cause how would you evolve your pokemon for example say you bought a larvitar figure and it reaches level 30 how are you going to evolve it cause the figure cant change it self that be unnatural maybe in the game it could change form but you it just cant work

Now THIS sounds like a lot more reasonable idea. There already is Pokemon trading cards, so why not bring them too life via AR? Obviously it would have to be either separate from the main series, or as a fun optional extra (similar to Kid Icarus Uprising, only more in depth). Certainly better then figurines.

Actually... There are... I don't remember how many figures, I've lost count! But by the time they're all out, the count will be at least 120(including Magic Items and excluding paintjob variants).
