A re-release of a Mother game in any form is about as likely as Sega releasing a new console. I know I sound like a broken record here, but so do everyone who bring it up in the first place. Yes, it would be amazing, no, it won't happen. Not much else to be said. [/rant]
As others have said, I'd rather see completely new, original games. That said, I'd trade OoT 3D for a remake of ALttP (which Aonuma has expressed interest in) in a heartbeat.

@Rift, I remember when people said that a new Kid Icarus game was highly unlikely and yet here we are with a new Kid Icarus game staring our wallets in the face. Furthermore, before someone utters the words that 'Pit' gets a new game thanks to the fact that he was featured in Super Smash Brothers Brawl may I remind my dear friends that EarthBound has been featured in all of the Super Smash Brothers entries. Also, one of the main reasons as both Iwata and Reggie Fills Amie admited at E3 2010 that Kid Icarus is back is thanks to the major ruckus that fans raised over the want of another Kid Icarus entry.
If we the people stop snobbling about why the heck there won't be another EarthBond game than by the blasted sands of time there won't be another game! However, if get our heads out of our sandboxes and bombard Nintendo/Brownie Brown with letter after letter and express our desires for another EarthBound game then maybe we just might be successful in getting not only an EarthBound game on the 3DS but also on the Wii2 as well (but for now lets focus on the 3DS).
Now if you still don't want an EarthBound game than that's your problem but I'm determined to do what I can to help bring back EarthBound. Can't you imagine how wonderful it'd be to play EarthBound in such grande and beautiful 3D? If PilotWings looks that good on the 3DS then I know that EarthBound will look a heck of a lot better!
Though not being a big fan of remakes i'd love to see some sort of Metroid 2 redo. Mostly because i loathe games that have no map screen where there absolutely should be one. Do it in the vein of Metroid Zero Mission paired with a DKCR-esque level of 3D and you'll have one happy customer here.

Thanks man! I plan to get and scream for a new EarthBound game until I got some kind of acknowledgement. BTW at the moment I've been running around the web try to garner support and I've noticed that EarthBound has quite the cult following to! The fanbase for EarthBound (Mother) is quite larger than I suspected. With a fanbase this big there isn't a way Mr. Shigesato Itoi and Nintendo could ignore us.

Kid Icarus doesn't have a good chance of getting Nintendo sued and losing a ton of money (or worse).
And while I agree it would at least sell well enough, NEVER, and I mean NEVER use the internet as an example of something being popular, (also lol@thinki&#... you can somehow do what Starmen.net couldn't))

if i'm forced to endorse a remake (not a big fan of re-charging for stuff) I think F-Zero GX would make a fantastic 3DS game. One of the more graphically advanced Gamecube games should be a good fit for the processor and 3D would be an amazing effect on a game that fast.
