Hey guys so I've got both the new 3ds and the new 3ds xl and I was wondering what people do when they have both such as which eshop games they have for which, honestly I'm just looking for some inspiration as my smaller n3ds is collecting dust and I want to put it to good use

Use it to trade Pokemon between games so you don't have to pay for the PokeBank. Have multiple Animal Crossing towns without Streetpass conflict and also you'd be able to visit your own towns via local.
Use it to play multiplayer with your friend who doesn't have a 3DS. Kind of like you now have 2 controllers for your 3DS games. Streetpass yourself to get those benefits, it'd become slightly more useful if you have all those streetpass games to buy since you'd always have at least 1 Mii to use and you'd always be able to control the one color you receive by changing it on the side 3DS. There are plenty of amusing yet bad things you can do with it as well if you set up a new NNID account to your 2nd system as well with online messing around or stuff to screw up in the Miiverse, etc etc.
Aside from being a backup, an extra controller for download play games for guests who don't have their own 3ds.
A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

I also have 2 3DS's and am glad to know I'm not alone there LOL! I mainly use the XL to play on but if you got a game such as Animal Crossing:New Leaf (or any Animal Crossing game), you can only have 1 town at a time on it and so if you want to be able to travel to a different town and be mayor of both towns, you have to own 2 versions of the game and sadly you can't play both versions on the same 3DS. Because it saves the data to your sd card instead of straight to the game itself. So, to make a long story short.............I use my other 3DS to play a digital copy of Animal Crossing:New Leaf that was already downloaded on the 3DS when I bought it off EBay. I got a great deal on it too. I paid $200 for it and got I think it was 8 games downloaded on it. It was in great condition too. But the sad thing is that I can't change the Nintendo Network ID on that one. Anyways. I hope I haven't confused you even more. You can PM me if you have any questions about it.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf
I always exclusively use my newest 3DS for everything, and only use the other if I want to exploit some multiplayer feature like trade Pokémon, or simply keep it as a backup in case something happens to my current 3DS. I actually had to use my old 3DS for a while because my N3DS had to be sent out for repairs.
I actually have 3 3DS's atm. The oldest 3DS has a bunch of eShop games on it that I would LOVE to transfer over if Nintendo only had a unified account system.
@123ash3: Aha sorry they're both very valuable to me, my smaller n3ds is the ambassador version, and my n3dsxl is the animal crossing limited edition one!

I've got 3 3DSs (original 3DS UK, N3DS UK, 3DS XL US) and a 2DS.
I use them for StreetPassing mostly, but each has a range of games on it. I bought the US 3DS XL specially to access certain games only available on the US eShop (like SnapDots).
I have 5! I'm a sucker for a Zelda edition so have original 3ds (OOT edition) 3ds xl (ALBW edition) New 3ds xl (Majoras mask edition) new 3ds xl (Hyrule Warriors edition) and of course my ambassador edition New 3DS! I use my ambassador edition new 3ds as I like the customisation options of the cover plates! The rest are on my Zelda shelf!
Obviously you use them to make a Nintendo Sandwich.
