Topic: What are you buying? the N3DS (regular size) or N3DSXL?

I don't think they'll change the basic colors (because they can be customized, so there's no need to change the colors at all). But the buttons may be changed, who knows.

I wouldn't mind purple and violet buttons.

@canis: the comment was directed at you, since you seemed to be implying that iphys was saying that the original model needed a magnifying glass.

And he said that "It would need a magnifying glass" to imply that a smaller screen would be too small. I've used a smaller screen and I still can read it just fine. Hell, the DS screens are smaller than the 3DS ones, nobody needed a maginifying glass for that.

Every day my mind is not made up my insanity increases. XL or regular? At least I have the color figured out definitely going black (and never going back).

I was literally just about to pick up the Dream Team limited edition 3DS XL (one in stock at Best Buy), but this announcement changed all that and convinced me to keep using my original 3DS longer. I was really looking forward to the screen size increase, so I'm thinking I'll go with the New 3DS XL when the time comes; but, like many of you, I prefer the look of that white New 3DS, so it's a bit of a bummer.

I think I'll end up waiting for a limited edition New 3DS XL. I missed out on limited edition 3DS models since I had a launch 3DS, so I think I'll just be patient this time.

Maybe ... just maybe ... that Smash Bros. New 3DS XL will make it to America, and I'll jump right away. But, given NoA's recent patterns, I'm doubtful there'll be exciting editions for some time to come... sigh...

I'll be getting the regular-sized model due to cheaper price, portability, me liking the design better, and the option to change face plates.

none. i have a 3DS from launch i wont get a new handheld until next gen. nintendo just wants to test a few new features and sell a few more units until moving on to the next system. just like they did with gameboy colour and DSi.

I decided on the XL in Metallic Blue. I'd love the customisable faceplates, but to be honest I don't think I'll use them much. I really want the Smash Bros NXL but I'm just assuming it isn't gonna come out here for now.

Hmm, I think I will probably be getting the regular New 3DS first and transfer everything from my 2DS to that one. Then when Nintendo releases a nice limited edition New 3DS XL, I'll get it and transfer everything from my 3DS XL.

The DS screens had a dot pitch more similar to the 3DS XL, so even though the OG 3DS screens are similar in size to the DS screens, it was effectively a lot smaller than the DS screens in terms of the size of the pixels if you're trying to resolve all the details with your eyes.

Also, DS Phat was 275 gm, DS Lite was 218 gm, OG 3DS was 235 gm, and the OG 3DS has almost the identical dimensions to the Lite, so if you think the OG 3DS is heavier than the Phat, you've forgotten how big and clunky the Phat was.

I want a white xl if the xl comes in white.
Probably won't though since nintendo views white unpopular in the states due to the white 8gb only wii u selling worse than the black 32gb wiiu.
Although that monster hunter 3ds does look pretty sweet, To bad it will more than likely be a japan only release.

What a shame how jaded we have all grown about limited editions. I'm willing to bet the two limited edition New 3DS XLs will indeed be Japan exclusives. Perhaps we won't have to wait too long in the West though. If we hold out for a bit, maybe we'll get something cool (Xenoblade limited edition maybe? ...or dare I wish for a Majora's Mask remake and limited edition to go with it? ha!).

I'm really not trying to be negative here but i just don't want to get my hopes up after being let down by both the charizard and smt4 limited editions.
Although a majora's mask n3ds would go well with my link between worlds 3ds xl....................
Now iv'e got my hopes up again.

The customization is personally the biggest selling point to me so I'll be getting the regular if I get one at all.

My only dilemma is whether to trade/sell off my current 3DS XL for it or to just have two 3DS's. I'm not much of a console collector but I don't like trading off or selling my consoles either...

I hear you. I hear you completely. I'd be lying if I said my hopes weren't up. But, reason is telling me I'll have to wait...

I'm not trading or selling my XL either. I want to keep my Pokemon XL.

I still have my phat right here on my desk. It definitely feels lighter than the 3DS, though I don't have a scale to weight it.

I know I'm getting a LL. I can wait until Black Friday to see if NoA tempts me with a Zelda XL. Otherwise I'll just import any exclusive games and call it a day.
