I'd like to think that I'm not the only one that still hopes to see it released in the West (Europe too, of course), but even after having to wait long for the Sega 3D Classics Collection (actually volume 2 in Japan) to come (almost a year after its release in Japan), next month the same amount of time, which is 11 months, will have passed since the release of the final compilation in Japan, yet there haven't been any news about it, so I'm losing hope.
Even though a "Sega 3D Classics Collection 2" community was spotted on Miiverse, that's little proof of an official release, and anyway Miiverse is dying soon.
I have even asked Sega of Europe on Twitter twice, unfortunately unanswered, if they knew anything about it.
So, do you guys think we can hope for an eventual Western release of this compilation (the first one, previous to the one we got, is out of the question), which has arguably best titles than the second one?
You're not the only one But I think there's not too many of us either. I don't think that the retail release of Sega 3D Classics Collection sold too well in the West. From what I've seen in the Netherlands, not many shops had it in the first place and the ones that did have it discounted it pretty quikly after its release.
I bought a copy at release, but tbh, I haven't played much of it. I'd like to get back to it sometime though. I don't think I'd buy the Final Stage of these compilations, although I would probably be very tempted by Turbo Outrun! Hope they just release that one digital in the West. I don't see why they haven't already now that I think about it. Maybe it means they do have plans for a physical release? Here's to hoping.
Well, I've seen plenty of copies in all retail shops in my country, still nowadays, and not below 19,99 €. But I guess you're right and it didn't sell well. We saw that coming, though.
I hope they do release the third one, because there is where the great games are, the selection is arguably better than vol. 2, with the likes of Sonic 2, Gunstar Heroes, Super Hang-On... and it contains games that haven't even been released digitally in Europe, so I'm afraid if they ever confirm the Final Stage compilation won't get a release in the West, those games will remain unreleased.
But at least I'd like some confirmation if they're not planning a physical release, so I can wrap my mind around it and the next time 3D Classic Sega games get discounted, as they have several times, I'll get them digitally at least.
I just want Golden Axe 1 and Sonic 1. I already bought and completed Sonic 1, now please Sega give me Golden axe 1, coin op version please. I even bought Altered beast because I had to do something to keep my Golden Axe desire at bay but it's not the same thing.
PS: I don't care about the 3D effect, leave it out if you can't put it in this game, I almost never use it anyway, but Sega please just give me Golden Axe 1 on 3DS
PPS: and bring it to Europe please
@LuckyLand Well, I'm quite sure that they're done making 3D Classics, after the Final Stage compilation (2016) there hasn't been any new game, but the whole point of this series is the 3D effect. Otherwise you have the Golden Axe Trilogy in the Sega Vintage Collection series on Xbox 360, for instance.
What I would love to see would be the next generation of Sega Classics! Something like Sega Classics: Level Up (or something less stupid) that would include:
-Virtua Racing
-Virtua Fighter 1 and 2
-Virtua On
-Panzer Dragoon 1, Zwei, and Saga
-Shining Force 3
-Burning Ranger
Clockwork Knight
-Skies of Arcadia
-Crazy Taxi
-Sonic Adventure 1 and 2
-Space Channel 5
Maybe include some of the best Sega CD and 32X games as unlockable bonuses. I think that it's time for them to realize that Sega was more than the Genesis/Mega Drive! They have a good-sized fanbase who stuck with them through the add-ons, Saturn (a great, underrated console), and Dreamcast (one of my favorite consoles of all time!).
I wanted them to bring the box 1.2.3. Set here! I really wanted vol 1 with Outrun, Space Harrier on it. That was the best one and we never got it. Sega is so stupid, they keep claiming they learned to listen to want the fans want....but they NEVER DO!
Yeah, I pretty much thought it was confirmed once the "SEGA 3D Classics Collection 2" thing popped up. Miiverse closing down doesn't really have anything to do with that though. That alternate English title for the community was probably set way before Sega knew of the closure of Miiverse.
But outside of that, yeah... I wonder if they cancelled the NA version. Maybe the first one didn't sell that well? I remember it going down to $20 not too soon after release, which kinda sucks. I'm more interested in the games in Final Stage, and I've actually been holding off on 3D Sonic 2 (and Gunstar Heroes until a Steam bundle) due to this compilation. Oh well. :/
@OdnetninAges That's exactly my case. I'm holding off with some games that belong to Final Stage, even when they get discounted, but if only they confirmed Final Stage will never come to Europe, the suffering would end.
Because now some of the games included in Final Stage are discounted and this is a temptation to me. Now it's been almost one year and a half since release and still no news about the compilation being released outside of Japan. What to do?
I gave up officially. I took advantage of Spring Sales and bought 3D Super Hang-On and 3D Gunstar Heroes, which belong to the third compilation, that I already don't expect to see here ever. Now I'll wait for Sonic 2 and Streets of Rage 2 to be discounted whenever it happens again, and I'll move on.

Yeah, same. I think the Sega Ages announcement for Switch was the final nail in the coffin on them being able to make some money off of releasing 3D Fukkoku Archives 3 in America. At this point, it just doesn't make any business sense / financial sense to bring over. I can only assume "SEGA 3D Classics Collection 2" was something they had for sure planned to do (considering that was the English title on Miiverse), but either the first western 3D Collection underperformed, or they couldn't find a good time to release it for whatever reason.
