Sorry to hear about that. I've had remarkable luck with my game systems. What's most remarkable is that I bought an Xbox 360 in that first gen when the things were red-ringing like crazy and have never, ever had any issues with it.

Currently Playing: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (SD)

Wish I had your luck I returned my Xbox 360 SEVEN times six for RROD once for a disc drive. Ps3 went back once for YLOD. Ps4 thankfully other than software issues has been golden.

Yeah the 3DS isn't a very good device... You should get your PSVita back ASAP mate

The Vita is a fantastic piece of hardware and VERY well built... But without the games library to back It up its rather irrelevant. The 3dsxl as a handheld doeent impress me as much but the games library floors me.. Already bought more games in 9 days than I did since vitas launch.

Thus far I've purchased
Super Mario 3d land
Mario kart 7
Bravely default (haven't had time to start yet)
Pokémon X

The one I truly can't wait for is persona Q.. I would wait outside in the cold rain for hours for that game even as a grown ass 32 year old married man =p

It's odd maybe that entire Yoshi handheld was from a bad batch,,,I'm starting to notice other differences also.

1. The circle pad on the Yoshi edition wasn't overly accurate and had a few areas it would make a click almost as if it was rubbing against something(This made moving around in Pokemon X on roller skates insanely difficult where as now it's easy as pie) Doesn't happen with this new Black one.

2. The clicks when moving the position of the screen are softer,They don't make me feel as if i'm going to snap the hinges.

I'm lucky too. I've never had any console fail on me early on.

My bro's first xbox suffered from the RROD though, but that's good. Its parts helped with the 3DS and its screen problems.

Besides my Dreamcast, I have never had any console failing. The RROD was one of the reasons why I got a PS3 instead of a 360. The other reason being Uncharted and some other Sony exclusives.

I have 2 3DS and they are both fine. So I guess you got a lemon. Maybe with the 3DS being green and all

Anyway, glad to hear you got a replacement and that it is working fine.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

@MAB I've had mine since Holiday 2011 and nothing has gone wrong with my 3DS.

@psxsage I remember you getting this 3DS (you posted it) too bad it had to be a bad one. Generally the main issues with a 3DS tend to be buttons not working due to excessive play or marks appearing on the top screen from being closed. That, and some people who play thousands of hours of games, like I have, can have some scratching appear on screens from a stylus. I reccomend a screen protector on your new one, and you should be good to go.
That is also an amazing selection of games, I reccomend Kid Icarus Uprising as well since it is really a great addition.

I heard a few stories of the Pikachu 3DS XL, messing up for some people. I think limited editions are more prone to defects.

I've had my blue 3DS XL, since they came out. It had a camera software issue(it would show green lines on the screen, or be unable to focus), but it was under warranty. These newer machines are just alot more complex, so there's alot of things that can go wrong, just by default. I could cite more instances, but I'm already rambling, so I'll just leave it at that...

@SCAR392 you are kinda making me worried to buy any limited edition consoles.

Well, my Pikachu 3DS Xl got problems from the start: the shoulder buttons were a bit too soft, but I got them tight up a bit.

Besides that, I've own another 10 3DS (Cosmo black, Zelda 3DS, Pokemon blue and red, blue one, Toad special edition -only plays European titles-, blue one with Mario Kart, Pink one -for my daughter, I swear!!-, Mario and Luigi's one, Zelda's -the best!!-).

I've been hesitant about buying the Yoshi one because it doesn't look that good, but I'm definitely buying the Disney one, as soon as I save some food money for that.

I've had my 3DS since launch day, but one night it just randomly bricked. I was playing it, I closed it up and set it on my desk to go do something, and when I came back and opened it, there was nothing but a black screen and no sound. I tried all sorts of things but the whole system had gone bad. Luckily I still had my warranty because of the other times I sent it in just to get the scratches on my top screen fixed. Other than that though, I haven't had any other problems with mine.

I never owned a PSP or a PS3, so even if the original Vita games run out for me one day, I'll still have a ton of ports and older downloadable titles to play.

Look at the source. You have nothing to worry about.

I'm fairly certain that the failure rate, as small as it is, isn't any higher for limited edition consoles. It's not like those systems are produced any differently or with lower quality parts. They are the exact same as a regular 3DSXL, except it has a different colored plastic casing on the outside.
