if the games don't leave such big plot holes in the storyline/mythology.

Edit: They need to expand on the mythology. Like in the games & Anime they make the pokemon Universe seem huge and has all these cool legends but 1. suck at explaining them or 2. Not Even going into them and acting like they just don't exist later. Like i have a lot of questions about so many pokemon but gamefreak refuses to answer them......this could be fixed with a pokemon historia

I would also like to see time-skips used in future Pokemon games. Like the game goes ahead 2 years after you become the Pokemon Champion. Some things have changed and there's a new story arc. There can even be a time-skip of going in the PAST and there's alotta potential there.

@Blast Now that's a good idea, the player starting as the champion. But for some reason i would love to be red again.Travelling around his region trying to find something that makes his life empty. But nah game freak don't care about the story anymore, anyone who played pokemon x and y will know they stopped caring.Right now for them the only thing that they care is about making mega evolutions.

The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

I'm currently playing Resident Evil 4 Remake & Manhunt

I've been wanting this for a long time. There even was a fan game that had this idea (Pokemon Generations) which also had online. Unfortunately, it was cancelled. I really hope Game Freak decides to do it (atleast in a mini game)

Didn't pokepark 2 have that? Sure it was limited to only 4 but let's say everymon was playable in pokepark.

The mystery dungeon games a little as well.. unless I'm missing the point.

If you think getting 721 models to work in a real time battle is remotely feasible, you're sadly mistaken. Pokepark only limited itself to 4 Pokemon to good reason. That being said though, they could definitely increase that number. Maybe more like 20?

I'd like to see something similar to Pokepark 2, but maybe with less of a mini game emphasis and more of an exploration emphasis. Maybe they should make a spiritual successor series.

Lemme explain what I meant by bringing in anime elements... I meant like actually giving the main character a personality. I would love to have the option for my trainer to have a expressive personality.

And about giving the options of small story arcs in oddjobs... heck, I can literally imagine a funny and sad story for a oddjob that could be in a Pokemon game. Like a old lonely man needs help building a daycare and if you help him... you can experience a small contained story and a incentive.

They do that on purpose so that the player can identify with their character, essentially you're supposed to fill in your personality for the one that the character doesn't have.

My personal list.

Single Player first time playthrough - Story focused, with a few proper fleshed out characters. Story not focused on a laughable enemy team or on the legendary pokemon on the cover of the game.
Have larger towns and have more sidequests that encourage exploration of the town. Quite a few towns in games, you beat the gym leader and you're away on to the next route.
Gym badges/Pokémon league is a post game sidequest - All gym leaders and the Elite Four have 6 pokemon and are level 60+ (or scalable to your pokemons level).
Make more use of Double Battles/Triple Battles and Rotation Battles - I liked the single player in Pokémon Colosseum where every battle is a double battle.
Battle Frontier and Move Tutors - Should be in EVERY game. Not just certain ones.
Type Chart should be changed a bit - Ice and Rock types suck.

I could list more but that's what I would want to see the most. I am happy that Legendary pokemon you catch have very good IVs.

We're going on a bear hunt! We're going to catch a big one!

AGREED. Pokemon Towns need to be more appealing and have more worth.

The main character in Pokemon is supposed to be an avatar of the player.

A better story. The stories have usually kept me interested, but X and Y's story was just boring. The characters weren't interesting, either.

You can make a good story with an avatar character

I'd gladly give up an avatar that is supposed to resemble me as the player for a predefined character that is made to fit into a larger story. For the Pokémon series, I think it's time.

Isn't that more of what the GameCube ones did? They gave those characters back story, purpose and personality. (not sure about Gale of Darkness but for sure Colosseum) Even if the main character didn't speak they still gave him a lot of personallity, if I remember correctly

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

True... but the Pokemon avatars don't have a personality. Just give me the option!!! You wanna play as a silent trainer? That's fine. I just had enough of it. Heck, I would be happy if the main character just said, "Bring it on" to a villain or rival in the game!

@WaLzgi Right, but in this case having a personality devoid avatar seems to go hand in hand with a minimal story so the player can "create their own adventure." If that's the reason there's no fleshed out storyline then I'm saying I would give up the avatar being "me" so that they'll give us one.

Exactly!

I don't know......
if the main character having personality means we'll be stuck with kids forever, I'd go far enough to say the character should be even more hollow than now so we can choose the main character to be an adult.
I mean, they could make a story like the GC games but change it in a way so the character's age don't matter as much
or pull of the Fire Emblem Awakening Avatar, it comes from who knows where and his backstory is unfolded as the story progresses, making it far easier to have a nice story without losing the avatar thing.
