Tomorrow Nintendo is holding its big 3DS unveil event for Australia for media.
So naturally I'm going.
Does anyone have any Australian-specific questions regarding the 3DS they would like me to try and sus out? Please remember that this is an Australian event and the local Nintendo guys won't know zip about America, Europe or Japan.
But there may be one or two generic or Aus-exclusive questions that people have anyway.
And VB. Lots of VB. (Seriously, the best thing about Nintendo parties is getting absolutely hammered while playing games. I shall give you all an indepth analysis of how 3D and alcohol work... or don't, together)
Just see if you can get any info about what some of those good Australian devs are up to.(like Nnooo)

It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
In conclusion: pretty good event. A few too many people were crammed into the space they had, and no Samurai Warriors, but I got to play with the freaking 3DS.
My pick of games for the night were Lego Star Wars and Puzzle Bobble.
Was LEGO Star Wars really good? I'm thinking about grabbing it at launch.
Frame rate was a little sluggish, but the charm of Lego is definitely enhanced by the 3D. I found myself smiling while I was playing it.
and it looks pretty damn amazing as well? That's the impression I got from the couple of minutes I got to play it.

Pretty much every game looks amazing thanks to the 3D. Puzzle Bobble is a great example - the 3D actually makes it look like a visual upgrade on previous Puzzle Bobble games... But if you slide the slider down to 2D, you quickly realize that it looks just like every other PB game.
Any new additions to this puzzle bobble version, or is it pretty much the same with different graphics? Not that I'm complaining, I've played a lot of puzzle bobble and will probably pick this up to.

Yeah, it's really the same game with 3D effects layered on top - at least, in the few demo levels I got to play. A couple of "powerups" I hadn't seen in a PB game before, but I haven't followed the series religiously.
But that really isn't a complaint for me either. I might only get one PB game for every 10 released, but I love the ones I've played, and this one is going to be a must have for me.
From what I played that night, the games I will definately buy myself on the 3DS are:
Puzzle Bobble, Dead or Alive Dimensions, Nintendogs and Cats, Samurai Warriors, Star Wars Lego. Possibly Resident Evil Mercenaries.
