Topic: Walmart has lowered price of 3DS early at some stores

My local Target has the lower price, also through the 13th all Ubiscat published games are $17 off too. Maybe Ghost Recon is good, can't imagine any of the others are knowing their track record for quality.

Sure, I'll just brush away the unfairness of the situation and forget about the whole thing. The free games are for those who purchased the system for $250. If you bought it for $250, you deserve the games; if you didn't, you don't. I'm sorry for being upset by an unfair situation? There's nothing "wrong" with me for feeling annoyance because of cheaters. And yes, it is cheating. They're cheating the system by joining the Ambassador program, despite the $170 pricetag they paid for their 3DS.

Hahaha! Oh wait... You're serious?

Like others, I am sick and tired of people complaining that this is 'unfair'. Harden The F&^# Up. As I've said elsewhere, we live in a (mostly) free market. Stores can charge whatever the hell they want for products. Just because you jumped in early and paid full price for your system doesn't make you better or more worthy of receiving free games than people who took advantage of a good price.

The free games are NOT for people who bought the system at launch price. They're for people who connect to the eShop before August 12. True, the price drop happens on that day, but there is a subtle difference.

People who buy now are not, as you put it, 'cheating the system'. Have you got any more hyperbole you want to spew? You paid what you thought the system was worth, others didn't. The value has just shot up, making the system worth the price to many other people. Don't blame them for it.

Or do you think people are cheating the system when they buy products in a 2 for 1 deal? You know, you bought that T-Shirt at full price, but some other people bought it a few months down the track and got a second T-Shirt for free! How unfair is that! How dare they wait for something to be sold at a price they feel justifies the money?

I don't mean this as a throwaway insult, but to me the people who are complaining about the perceived 'fairness' of this seem like children who have lived pretty sheltered lives. This is what happens in a free market! People are able to buy and sell things at whatever price they want. Go take a look at the stock market - you don't see people complaining about 'fairness' there.

When you grow up a bit, you'll realise there's far more important things to worry about than whether someone you may or may not ever meet might possibly purchase a video game console for less money than you and still be allowed to download some ROMs that, realistically, should be worth about $1 each - something that I'm pretty sure won't have an effect on you in any way, shape or form.

I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.

I dont really care how "unfair" it is. I got mine in June and I'm not jealous and throwing a tantrum for gods sake. No, actually I'm glad I paid full price when I did because A: The person who were to get a 3DS tomorrow probably doesn't even know you can get free games and B: hasn't had it as long as I have. So in reality I paid 80 dollars to get my 3DS two months earlier than Fred here, and to be honest I'm glad I did because it's been a blast this summer.

Just for you.

No one - not Nintendo, not the logistics company that ships the 3DS to the retailer, not the Retailer itself - has any obligation whatsoever to act in a way you consider "fair."

So deal with it, or stop buying stuff, because that's how the capitalist world works.

I totally agree with this post. If you ask me the ones that are crying unfair and such are just mad cause they ran out like a fool and paid the 250 price tag so they can all laugh in our faces that they got theirs first. Well whos laughing now.

Meh, whatever. I payed 250 dollars because the 3DS was worth every penny of that money to me. Shoot, it was worth whatever Nintendo decided to charge to me! So if a few people can take advantage of this then good for them. By buying it day 1 for 250 I may not have the free games over these people but I did get over 4 months with the system for my paying premium price so I'm happy. On a side note, I really hope they reveal the rest of the 10 games on the 12th or very soon after. The anticipation is killing me!

Oy, I'm gonna try to say this without sounding mean spirited, but it might still come off that way. Sorry
Okay, I'd like to point out that people don't deserve free games for buying the system early. Feeling entitled to free games for buying the 3DS at full price, is fool's logic. Because you already got a reward for buying it! Being able to play the system before the price drop Whining about getting free stuff is ridiculous. It may be one of the dumbest things consumers can do because then developers won't give free stuff out anymore. Who cares if more people get to enjoy games for free? That's good!
Secondly, I'd like to point out that big corporations like Nintendo care about 1 thing only. Money. If you think you're entitled for being a Nintendo fan, you're sadly mistaken. The free games they're passing out was a nice gesture that doubles as a way to get people to stop complaining about the price drop, and it's only seeming to backfire.
Thirdly, the consumers aren't cheating the system. Walmart is. And telling us to turn down a deal like this because of false "fairness" is crazy.
And lastly, just be happy that you and hundreds of other people are getting free games. For god's sake. Nintendo didn't even have to do this in the first place.

here's a question, what does wal-mart stand to gain by paying the extra 80 dollars out of their pocket? that seems like a pretty big hit that wouldn't be counterbalanced by them also purchasing a game or whatever.

The liklihood that someone who buys the console at the cheaper price will also buy one (or two) new games, or DS games. Games are where the margin is for retailers as well, consoles just get them into the stores.

I paid 250 dollars for my 3DS on day 1... I don't feel like a fool

Waltmart is being generous, can't we be happy for that and all the people who will get a great deal?

Obviously people have no room to complain if Wal-Mart or anyone else wants to spot someone $80 out of their own pocket. But people attacking and criticizing those for feeling annoyed are acting equally ridiculous. It also seems to me like a really silly/reaching argument to suggest that the price drop and the free games weren't supposed to be connected. I think Nintendo's intentions with the program were pretty clear.

it just seems like such a strange and unnecessary gamble for a few days. I guess I'd just need to see the numbers on how much Wal-Mart would make on a 40 dollar copy of Zelda. but paying that 80 bucks themselves for each 3DS has to hurt.

/me buys a 3DS at $170 then runs across the street to buy the games at local Gamestop

Seriously though, I'm a little annoyed, but other than that I'm not bothered that much. Anymore

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

It wouldn't cost $80. Walmart would be selling it just under cost (as in, the cost Walmart pays for it).

A few days' advantage is massive in the world of retail.
