Topic: Virtual Console Titles' Screen Resolution.

I just purchased the two beautiful Oracle games from the Virtual Console. When one boots them up, do they start with the GBC's original res? Or are they stretched out? I honestly can't tell, though the image doesn't seem sharp at all. How do I set them to their original res?

Also, how do you guys play them? Original res or otherwise?

They've been enlarged, I think you Press Select and R or something for original resolution. (and I found out you get a smexy 3D border based on the system is on, I need to try it out soon. x3)

They start with a stretched out res. To play with the original res, hold Start and Select while booting up the game (although it makes everything tiny).

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

Can you take out the GBC border thingy, though? And you're right, it is quite tiny. Do you folks play it on the original or stretched out res?

Playing GameBoy Color game doesn't look as nice, when playing it in default screen resolution (especially on a 3DS XL). I suggest playing it in 1:1 pixel mode. You get the crisp picture and you get the awesome GBC border. On the other hand, playing in 1:1 on the original 3DS is painfully small, so playing it on default is recommended.
To boot a GB, GBC, or GBA game in 1:1 pixel mode, press and hold select or start after you select a game. Hold, until the game screen appears.
Hope this helps.

Nope, you can't. Original resolution is pretty novel for a while, but after using it a few times I stopped bothering. I play everything in regular resolution "pea soup" mode.

I'm playing 1:1, but only because I have an XL and that basically makes the screen appear the same size it was on the GBC. On the regular 3DS it's just too tiny to play GB games at 1:1.
