I just got a 3DSXL and am thinking about getting some older DS titles (NSMB DS is #1 on that list). I see I can get the game cart or the Virtual Console download on the Wii U for about the same price. I think I'm a bit indifferent on which one I play it on but do sort of like the idea of having a physical cartridge. I also wasn't a fan of what Nintendo did to Wii VC owners to transfer to Wii U.
I'm currently playing Yoshi's Island VC (got it free with Nintendo Rewards) on my Wii U and like that pretty well.
These are some good points. I ended up finding a good deal physical DS cartridges so I just bought those.
In the end, I'm not really a fan of digital and I really don't trust Nintendo after they charged people to go from Wii VC to Wii U VC.
In my opinion, when you buy a title it should bind to your account and work on any device it's available on. Wii, Wii U, 3DS, NX, whatever. Game saves should be able to be saved to the account as well. This is probably what the NX will do (And pretty sure what the PS3/PS4/Vita did).
@Dreamliner Just because something would make sense to you doesn't mean Nintendo is going to do it... I wouldn't be surprised if region-locking and the way accounts are handled won't change with NX.
Just another reason why I prefer physical ownership.
