Will the VH GB games be in Black and white? or in color? or can you chose?

If you're talking about he Virtual Console then I can almost think that they'll be in color. Iwata did mention that some Virtual Console Game Boy games will be in 3D and will be spruced up to appeal to the youth of today who are accustomed to polished up entertainment.

Yeah I'd prefer if they were all colorized. That Pea Green hue of the original Gameboy just looks hideous by todays standards.
Then again they may not want to put so much work into adding color to every game. Before Gameboy games had color we accepted it because that's all we knew but now it just doesn't cut it.

Er, Nintendo has a standing policy of delivering Virtual Console games EXACTLY as they were. I expect the same of "Virtual Handheld" games. GB games will be monotone. GBC games will be color. "Classic Games" will be the ones re-imagined, actually changed, to add 3D effects. The only one I heard him mention in that category was Xevious, but I may have misheard.

@Link79: They wouldn't be in the original green anyway, most likely...it'd turn to standard greyscale.

I wouldn't be surprised if they at least offered color settings for the original games on par with the options when you play them on a GBC/GBA (press button combinations to choose palettes). If they wanted to get fancy, they could even be really nice and include a Super Gameboy mode for the games that had enhanced features on it, but I sadly doubt that'll happen.

I would love to see Capcom make use of the colorization of the curiously scrapped GBA Mega Man Anniversary Collection, which was to include all five Gameboy titles, but I don't know if Nintendo would allow that. Black and white is okay with me, though...I've only played Wily's Revenge, and a theoretical chance to try the rest cheap would be great!

@Peznaze: You mean "monochrome," not "monotone." We don't want them to downgrade the original game audio, I'm sure.

what about games like pokemon res and blue. if you played them on a gameboy they were in black and whiye but if you used a gbc they were in color.

It probably depends on the game. I've used GB emulators before, and Most games are colorize it if it has the option. If it doesn't have the option, it stays in that monocrome green color.

Well it seems they're adding filters to smooth the images out so I doubt they'll be the green of the originals but it'll just be like the GBC.

The GB screen itself was what gave the greenish colors. Like Stuff said, it'll more likely be in grey-scale

it would be interesting to have the option to choose between monochrome and color, though. i seem to recall being able to colorize GB games when played on a GBC; maybe they'd bring that back for us :3

It'd be great if they included the option to have GBC/Super GB color palates for GB games that supported them along with the option to play in the original B&W. I don't mind B&W though. I'll just be happy to finally be able to play the old GB games with a backlight. You always needed pretty bright light to play the original. (I'm aware GBASP had backlight, but I didn't own one).

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.
