I just got this new clip in Nintendo Video called Awolnation, and even though it was claymation, it had guns and some violent stuff in it. So was wondering...Nintendo didn't send that to everyone did they? I mean, I can't imagine some of the stuff in there being appropriate for, say, a 7 year old. Does Nintendo release different videos depending on what age you input?
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
I know they had a 3net clip in there that required you to put in your birth date to view it. The clip was from one of their programs called "Live Fire" that featured combat simulation (sans blood, guts and death) with RPG explosions and people role-playing mobs. You could, however, if you inputted a birth date that was younger than what was allowed, just exit out of NV completely and enter in a different birthdate and then view the video. So, it's basically the same system that Gamestop uses on its website to block content from younger viewers. As for your actual question, considering what I described above, I guess everyone gets the same content from NV.

Guns inappropriate for a seven-year-old? Someone's never played Call of Duty.
Over-used puns aside, it is curious. Nintendo doesn't have a history of these scenarios. I mean, they basically killed the first Mortal Kombat game on the SNES. There is an episode of Pokemon that got banned because someone was being shot at, I know. They didn't even get hit.
If you ask me, they probably should be a little heavier on security than the system that Birdman mentioned. Or maybe have a parental control option to disable videos like that. But I've seen scenarios where that idea can go wrong.
Nintendo - Where even first person shooters ooze creativity.

Dang, I didn't get that one, and I'm 16. And BTW yes, I did get that awolnation. I thought it was hilarious

People are way too overprotective of their kids these days. I can't imagine how anything on Nintendo video would be that traumatizing. I was watching gory violent movies at the age of 7 and I turned out fine. You just have to explain to kids it's all pretend and they should be okay with it. It's not like your kids are gonna find porn on there.

This this this! And in the context of sex, you just need to explain to them that sex is a normal part of adult life.

You'd be surprised how one single ignorant assumption leads to the corruption of a child. Not all 7-year-old children are mature enough to handle sex, violence, language and what not at that age.
Anyhow, I agree. People should be a bit more careful with parental controls and age restrictions.

No. You were just born out of thin air.
It's up to individual parents, and their values and whatnot. Just because one kid is able to watch something, doesn't mean another kid is allowed to.
