I like the idea and I think its a great way for people to experience the DQ games who haven't played them before.

Um.....good for them? Maybe I shouldn't mention this, but in Japan, rebrandings of big sellers at lower prices are common, even on Nintendo platforms. You may as well be saying "Uncharted gets a greatest hits release on PS3", because...that's all it is.

...And still none of them are in America.

I saw that and I can't wait! I've been putting off importing DQ7 for a while but for that price? SOLD! I may get the other two for giggles.

I never played Dragon Warrior 7(US name) but I was hoping that those greatest hits would come here at some point. I'd buy them in a heartbeat. I own both cartridges for Dragon Warrior 1-3 on GBC. Yes I know it's actually DragonQuest but I grew up with Dragon Warrior.

Not likely at this point. Squeenix has complained about the work/expense required for translating and they don't think they will get a return in investment. As a person that is not a fan of the use of the cockney dialect/terms in the game I sorta agree with them.

Guess they'll force me to find an emulator and a copy of the rom. Not my fault they don't want to do it. They do what they must and so will I. I would gladly buy it officially but as you said, return on investments and whatnot....it's just business.

And I'm sure there's no one else who'd be happy to do all the work for them...hint hint...

You could always import. I'm using this as an excuse to upgrade my 3ds to an LL.

I'm not willing to put in the effort, just as they aren't willing to put in the effort to translate "officially". Which also brings me to another point. How come I don't see ANY DQ VC games....whats the deal? I also didn't see them on the Wii VC way back when either.

If it's not Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, Square Enix believes that it won't print money in the West. Just like Capcom believes that Mega Man won't print money unless it's on mobile devices. It seems like a lot of third parties hardly have any logic these days.

Oh well, at least there will always be the glorious DS and PSP days.

Lack of return on investment mindeset again I'd wager because I have to speed past DQ7 eshop adverts on my JPN 3ds to keep me from buying it that way.

Weeps forever... Damnit it Square Enix, release just VII hell I'll just take VII at this point keep the Monster games, keep the Theatrhythm just give me VII...which will never happen. Ugh, I'll just go play lll on my GBC, and replay V on the 3DS...and maybe IX (when I have several hundred hours to throw away...)

Because I'm totally sure your average american gaming n00b is bound to pile on a franchise like Dragon Quest on a phone, despite having never heard of it, or played, or even played an RPG before. Meanwhile the hardcore gamers who might've actually heard of the series and perhaps even been playing it before would never want to actually shell out $40-$50 for a remastered entry that practically paid itself the moment it landed on Japanese shelves.

It's Bravely Default all over again. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they're doing it on purpose now to try to get people to buy it and advertise it for them solely based on the fact that it was so difficult to get it over here...

I'd be down if they release it here. I've played the original and the original Monsters game as well as a couple others of those.. I also just got DQVIII on sale on iOS but optimally I could play them on Wii U. 3DS would be fine though.
