I sometimes do, just when I don't fancy having that thing in my hand or get it out.

I tend to use my fingers more often than the stylus unless the game demands precision or heavy touchscreen input. So far there seems to be a trend with 3DS games to mosty use the touchscreen to add a few extra buttons. I know there are exceptions, but I pretty much just use the buttons unless I absolutely have to use the touchscreen.

I use my fingers. I can't see why it would hurt your screen so long as you don't have big long fingernails and aren't using them as a stylus. Fingerprints wipe off.

When I close my eyes, I see pixilated blood.

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I posted this right before I left for a camping trip last night, and I come home to 23 replies! People here at NL are really helpful I'll probably avoid using my fingers on the touchscreen unless I absolutely have to, but as @TeeJay pointed out, it wouldn't cost me too much to just simply buy a couple more styluses (or styli, or whatever it is At least I know that it's not really that damaging to the screen to touch it with your fingers. Thanks again!

I use the bottom of my thumbs (not the nail) on the touchscreen. Like Mully said, fingerprints wipe off.

Fingerprints may wipe off, but they do build up on the sides after a while.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

I am paranoid about fingerprints and dust and anything on any of my systems. Except when it's really old, like my Brick. But when it comes to my 3DS, I'll use my finger for menus and stuff like that and then forget I did and yell, "D'oh!".

@MetroidMasher17 Amen to that.
But anyway, I just got some screen protectors a couple days ago, and I put one on the touchscreen. I screwed it up pretty badly because there are a heck of a lot of air bubbles, but as long as it's protected, I can live with it. Now I can use my fingers on it without feeling guilty However, I didn't see a need to put one on the 3D screen; besides, I would NOT want any air bubbles on it for obvious reasons. Thanks again everyone for the help!

Playing SSIV (well, if this is your first game from SS) with a stylus in your hand doesn't look that well to me, come think of it. Fingers are good if you just need to do a few quick taps, but for precission you need it.

I always use the stylus, for everything, I just really don't like using my fingers. Mostly it depends on how lazy I'm feeling, but I almost always use the stylus. And, if you really like using your fingers, but you're worried about fingerprints, or whatever, you could always get one of those things that you put your finger into (kind of like a ring) that has the tip of a stylus underneath it. I'm not sure what they're called, but they're like rings combined with the tip of a stylus. That way, you're using your finger and a stylus.

As long as I have the time to take out my stylus I will always use it, but I cant imagine reaching out for the stylus when ROB is calling on SF643D, or when I am rushing in a fight on SSFIV3DE, just to name a few examples.

two very good examples of when fingers are necessary. I also go ahead and just use my fingers for something like tapping the play button for videos on the eshop, even though I wish they would just let me push A.
