In some countries like Australia, every Latin American country and etc game prices are super inflated.
For example, here in Mexico a new 3DS game costs a little more than the equivalent to 61 dollars in the local coin. All of them. Even on the eshop most first party or big name games go that route, though a few companies (like atlus) have fairer prices on the eshop.
Bestbuy.ca has the same thing listed for $79.99, so it's most likely an error... As Ralizah said, buy it before they fix it. Only good can come of that.

He has a point, the Standard Edition is $49.99 at Amazon. So that means I am skipping it. Not even for Theatrhythm or Smash I am paying that much.
That is a little high IMO. Sure, I paid $50 for SMT IV...but I got the $30 credit so it was like paying $20 for it. Persona Q just seems like a fanservicy spinoff that's trying to get people to buy the next iteration on PS3/4...and TBH I wouldn't even pay $50-60 for the main titles at this point with how afraid I am after all the milking of P4 that's being going on lately...so I don't think I'd pay that for Persona Q especially when games like Pokemon X, Zelda, other Atlus RPGs, and other great games are $10 less. To each their own though, it looks like a cool game...but I've been getting picky with my RPG's lately, especially when it comes to price.
I also paid $50 for SMTIV, but besides the credit that also came in a special edition if you acted fast.
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
Atlus games' prices are usually inflated due to the lower amount of copies produced, to compensate for the lack of popularity that the games will have. This makes sense, considering I've yet to run into a new copy of SMTIV at any retail places (not on online).

You'll get over it, try having to pay $60+ for every new retail game
That's for console, not handheld. The console games have more power and the higher caliber make up for the price.
It's not just consoles but handhelds too. We're looking at least $60 for Persona Q/MH4/Pokemon Ruby & Saphire
No, it's just a few. Those are exceptions, not the rule. You said "for every retail game." Very few handheld games are $50. You could probably count the notable ones, if not all of them on one hand.

Okay so I used some creative license, but they are at least $49.95 (so you'll be handing over a $50 note, no point arguing over 5 cents).
$60 Smash Bros 3DS
$50 Theatre Rhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call
$60 Yu Gi Oh Zexal
$60 Dr Kawashima's Devilish Brain Training: Can you stay focused?
$60 Hometown Story
$90 Skylanders Trap team
$60 Sonic Boom
$50 LEGO Ninjago
$50 LEGO Batman 3
$60 Fantasy Life
$48 Fifa 15
That's slightly more than two hands there, with ruby, saphire, mh4 and persona, that's two hands and a foot

We're talking US dollars here, right? At least half of those are available on Amazon for less than $50.

Oh my God, man. That's ridiculous. $50 for FIFA, that's silly.
Yeah, it's a bit much for a portable game, I don't even care for the tarot cards.
I'll probably buy it digitally when it get's a price drop, I did the same for Shin Megami Tensei 4, waited until it was $29 on the e'shop, I wasn't going to pay $50 for a digital game, lol.
The good thing about Atlus games on the e'shop is that they get price drops all the time, which is really helpful.
In Finland it's normal for a game to cost 45€ ($61) at launch and some games never have a price drop. Lowest price I can find for Mario Kart DS is 35€. Some 3DS games cost 50-60€ at launch. I'd be happy if games here were as cheap as in US.
It's its, not it's.

Hugh Atlus fan and can't believe they're doing this again. SMT IV's price point was believed to be because of the quick translation, this however I'm just not sure why. If it was the main series I can see them getting away with this like SMT but it's just a spin off. Atlus to me isn't a big enough company to try to get away with these price increases. Yes the content is there but my need to pay 50$ is not. As much as I want the game I have so much backlog that I can wait for a really good sale tbh. Here's hoping the next EO doesn't go this route!

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.

That is pretty much every where that isn't the US most first party games on the eshop are £40 in the UK ($68), thankfully online retailers undercut them and is the main reason why I never want digital only handhelds.
That is a little expensive for a 3DS game. I'm disappointed because I wanted to finally try out the Persona series :S
I still have to try SMT:IV and the Etrian Odyssey series too so I think I'm better off waiting.
