Topic: Tomodachi Life and the Graduation Cap

Ok, so we (son and I) got TL off the eShop this morning. The kid loves it so far but we're having a tough time getting the graduation cap freebie.

We have spot pass enabled in the system settings but once in game that option is greyed out, no way to change it. I thought maybe a trip to McD's where we can hop on the Nintendo Zone might do the trick but nope. Still nothing on the cap. No way to enter the import shop where we are supposed to pick up the cap and still no way to change spot pass from within the game options.

Does anyone know what the solution is?

Side note: The trip to McD's wasn't a total wash, we got an item for Animal Crossing
