Topic: Tomodachi Life

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I couldn't find an already dedicated thread to bump...

Just won this game in an eBay auction. Been curious about it for a while. Anything I should be looking forward to/worried of right off the bat? Anything amazing I should know?

If it helps with your tips, I'm a big Animal Crossing fan.

Yeah if you like Animal Crossing then you should be fine, it got boring for me quickly...Might give it another chance, since it was fun adding yourself into the game with a bunch of anime characters.

It's actually not all that much like Animal Crossing. So you might be disappointed if you expect it to be similar.

I only really relate it to AC as a daily simulator game. I don't expect the same as far as gameplay and such.

Honestly don't know why I bothered mentioning AC, hahaha.

....Eh, well anyways it's still a fun and weird game. It did get stale for me pretty quickly, though...so I dunno.

I sunk about 30 or so hours in on launch, it's amusing but not nearly as good as other daily games like animal crossing.

.....Or Monster Hunter. (...jk, lol)

I really enjoyed it, and probably played for at least 30 hours total (maybe an hour a day for about a month?)

I found it to be better enjoyed with friends though. I'm not sure I would've enjoyed it so much if I couldn't share my experiences with other people playing the game.

Is there anything to actually do in this game?

The impression I have of it is that you create a set of characters and then sit back and observe them do stuff.

I played like, 80 hours of the game! Just like Animal Crossing, I spent a huge amount of time playing it, but then got bored and basically completely dropped it. Thankfully in Tomodachi Life your island won't become weed infested while you're gone and you won't feel as bad when you come back after a long time!

You'll come back to an island of moody, hungry miis though.

You basically take care of them, help them make decisions and watch crazy things happen to them.

I found it really fun and enjoyable, but it didn't last long. After I'd done everything there is to do, it's just a matter of doing them over and over again. It ends up getting repetitive. I enjoyed the game for about a month. I don't intend to sell it, but at the same time I don't think I'll ever get back into playing it.

Well Santa did say it's fun to start over after all that, so yeah. I'm thinking of trying this again, I might just download this time, though.

You may find that several couples will divorce autonomously if you haven't played in a while. It's pretty annoying too as most of my Miis are married, and I can't precisely tell WHO has gotten divorced as the couple seems to have gotten over it already.

My kid liked it. I felt completely ripped off. It got boring extremely fast for me.I blame this site for hyping it so much!

I don't know about you Klimbatize, but I'm glad I picked this up! I'm having a blast, and it's hilarious.

Ok I need to go ahead and ask, because it's getting on my nerves.
How do you guys deal with pronunciations? Because I sometimes can never get it right, it's annoying. lol

I just write everything phonetically. I'm of Turkish descent, and at least half of my Miis have Turkish names. The pronunciations are good enough for the most part, though I often have to write rather ridiculous things in the pronunciation section, and it involves a frustrating amount of trial and error. Often I just have to settle for the game's limitations as there are certain sounds that just can't be replicated in the English language.

I'm just super glad that Nintendo have included more international characters in the 3DS and Wii U this generation so that I can finally write names using their original letters rather than opting for the closest English equivalent. I'm a tad puzzled as to why Japanese characters are not available in non-Japanese consoles though (considering the sheer amount of other international characters that are supported).
