The transfer method is not completely foolproof - there is no obvious reason for it failing. And it's not about paying attention or not following instructions. The whole transfer process is flawed. If it wasn't there wouldn't be so many posts about it failing. It's only a small minority in the grand scheme of things, but if it affects you it's incredibly frustrating.

It should all fit. I bought a 32GB microSDHC card for my new 3ds. My old 3ds had an 8GB SD card.

Then that must have been the problem. You're suppose to use the same card for the new 3DS instead of the new one. That's why the systems advice you to use the same card after the transfer is complete if you did the wireless transfer.

According to NintendoLife's article, all one needs is "A micro-SDHC card with at least the same capacity as your current SD card."

If I used the same card, as you suggest, well....that just won't work because it's an SD card and not micro.

What you should have done to your old 3ds is to copy the SD card data into the micro SD card slot and then put the micro sd card into the old 3ds with the SD adapter and THEN do the wireless transfer so that you can remove the micro SD card from the old 3DS and put it into the new 3DS.

Personally, I don't see this issue being common as Nintendo hasn't even reported the problems. Did you by any chance report this issue to Nintendo? They could possible patch it up like how they did it for X and Y.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

Well, I'm about half-way done with the transfer. Wish me luck!

I lost all of my data on my SD card when doing the transfer. Sucks since I had 50 hours in Persona Q. Guess i'll take a break from that.

That is terrible. Nintendo really needs to address this issue.

You are extremely fortunate! I'm glad you didn't lose any save data.

I am having issues with 3DS Home Theme Shop. I went there looking for the newly released Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate themes and I didn't see them (all I saw was the new Donkey Kong theme that was also released today). So I scrolled down and clicked on "All Themes". It signed me in with my NNID and then attempted to "prepare my SD card." Instantly it gave me Error Code: 026-6533.

I'm so tired of this New 3DSXL failing on me that I just give up. Back to playing NES games.....

It is indeed. One plus side though, the download times are MUCH quicker on the New 3Ds, which is fantastic since I have awful internet ^.^ Got everything back put in Download Later and woke up with all my games. Great considering I had Persona Q, Metal Gear Solid 3, and some other large titles that would have taken much longer on my original 3Ds.

I don't get what the problem is... All you have to do is switch to a MicroSD in your current 3DS, then do the limited wireless transfer and then flip the MicroSD from old 3DS to new 3DS... Took me 30 mins with no problems at all.
