Well here are my Ocarina tips:

1. When you walk in a room, survey it for anything that looks suspicious.
2. Kill all enemies if you are able
3. Take your time. Some rooms require problem solving to complete
4. If Navi points to anything, play the Song of Time or Scarecrow's Song (go to Lake Hylia in the past for the Scarecrow Song)

I can't remember if this applies to OOT, but a general rule in 3D Zelda is to inspect the whole room, including the ceiling. I got so used to only seeing the floor and walls in 2D Zelda, the ceiling is often something you have to take into account as well.

I don't have any gameplay tips, but I do have some recommendations for which games are most newcomer-friendly and which ones aren't:
Newcomer-Friendly:
Skyward Sword
Twilight Princess
Not Newcomer-Friendly:
OG Zelda
Majora's Mask
Zelda 2

Main tip for Ocarina of Time:
Explore everything you can at any moment in the game. The world is small enough that this doesn't become an absurd task but at the same time there's a lot to see beyond just the next checkpoint.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

Tip: play Majora's Mask sometime, it's personally my favorite Zelda game (though I haven't played Twilight Princess or the original DS ones yet).

But I'll echo what others are saying and say that you should probably not play it as one of your first Zelda games. I'd suggest Skyward Sword and/or Wind Waker before Majora's Mask.

My tips: Make sure you thoroughly explore each dungeon. Pay attention to even the smallest details. Even if some Zelda dungeons are easy, you might get stuck because you missed the most obvious element (I still remember when I got stuck in one part in Minish Cap... took me weeks to finally figure out how to throw a bomb, let alone know I was supposed to throw one. So embarrassing). Also make sure to get the map and compass for each dungeon. With a map, head to the rooms you haven't entered yet. With the compass, try to get to all the treasure chests.
And Water Temple's actually sweet, once you get the hang of it. There might be a little trial-and-error, but it's no big deal. Some parts do look impossible (I even felt trolled once), but don't lose your calm, and you'll be fine!
Oh, and Skyward Sword's a brilliant game. I usually don't care what the haters say. You don't need to move your whole hands to play the game. Just move your wrists. Simple.

God first.

I think the one game I have trouble with is Majora's because I hate being timed. I did just get OOT but I still have to beat ALBW

Back when I played OoT for the first time I had a player's guide and it really made the experience more immersive. This particular guide was written like a novel which I thought was really cool, it didn't treat the Zelda as a game but a story as you role-played as Link, the Hero of Time. Online guides still work, but they don't have that same feel the paperback ones do. It was the Prima Offical OoT guide from Nintendo Power.

Currently Playing: SMITE, ROTTR, Halo 5: Guardians (XB1), Xenoblade Chronicles X (WiiU), Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 2 (3DS)

Glad to hear you're enjoying it so far! After OOT I would recommend playing Wind Waker as there are elements in the game you'll appreciate more and it offers a different approach on the series whilst maintaining that traditional Zelda charm. After ALBW I would go back to A Link to the Past.

After you've played a few main series games and then dig into Majora's Mask. You won't regret it!

There was a game idea here. It's gone now.

Again, thanks everyone =] I havent played OOT since I last posted due to some other games in my backlog, but today is the day XD planning to sit back and enjoy it like few days ago =]
I saw some nice classic zelda games for cheap, but not really sure... I admit games like majoras mask temp me more, due to upgraded graphics and content, but should I give the old ones a chance too?
Anyway, for now its only OOT for me! =]

Make sure you keep us updated when your make more progress!
If games like Majora's is what attracts you then by all means go for it. As you can see from all these posts, everybody has their own unique tastes and different reasons they enjoy Zelda. My recommendation is to try Twilight Princess though from what you've said.
