Hello everyone, I just finally purchased my red 3DS a couple hours ago and had a question or two I can't seem to find an answer to. Do I have to play that target/archery game everytime before allowed to take AR pics with Mario, Link, etc? And how do I remove the actual card from the taken picture like I've noticed online so it doesn't look like they are even standing on the card itself? Thank you very much to ANY helpful answers....

Yes, you have to play archery, the other question i have no answer

Video Games and I are gettin' old (And we still haven't walked in the glow Of each others majestic presence!)

What is the J files you may ask? Why only the biggest fad of 2023! :D

You have to play the archery once, finish it, and then you can do the other options immediately.

^ ^ Okay, thank you VERY much for the info.....Cheers! I'm so glad I finally got this awesome little Ninty system! Can't wait to get Mario 3d Land and OoT for starters then onto others like Luigi's Mansion 2, Paper Mario, RE, etc! thanks again!...I am so glad you answered my questions really bc I won't be able to get a game for it until like a month or 2 at least so I am looking to appreciate what the system itself can do until then!

In answer to your second question, there is no way to remove the card. The 3DS uses the card's image as a reference point to know how it should render the image. You can however move the character in a small radius around the card and if you angle the shot just right, the image of the character will overlap and hide the image of the card from the viewer. The 3DS itself still needs to be able to see the card in full view though.

Sometimes I try to make the AR card's subject cover over the card so you can't see it.
