Topic: This MK7 glitch just doesn't make sense

In time trials, I was just racing like normal, doing DS Airship Fortress, this is on MK7 of course, and I'm racing against myself. I'm ahead of my past time trial by the second lap, I'm getting into the Airship so I just got past the deck, and my passt time trial is pretty fast so he's close to me then suddenly, my past time trial almost stops and hits the wall in the airsip and keeps acting weird and hitting the walls. I know for a fact I did not do this. I know that I MIGHT have done this on a differant time trial on the same course, just being dumb and hitting the walls, but I'm not sure. But I do know that the time trial I was racing DID NOT do this, as I somehow lost against my time trial. Yeah, I crossed the finish line and it said YOU LOST. I decided to try to figure out what happened, because watching it on the map didn't help me figure out what the problem was. I was really careful not to get ahead to see when and where he would start acting weird and banging into walls. But, as I was behind him, he kept on going and didn't hit a single wall. This was even more confusing so I found out that I must be in front of the time trial by the second lap to trigger the glitch. One final time, I went in front of him and waited for him to bang into walls. Sure enough, he did. I stopped and turned back, watched him, and he eventually stopped and didn't do anything. I assume(if this is what happened) that this is when I quit if I was doing as my time trial was, but as I said, I don't remember it too much, so it could or could not have happened that way.

I've seen this happen online, but not in a time-trial.

Pretty much, it's a scrambling of data: part of your ghost data got scrambled, and so screwed up just part of it's course. Thus, it ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time. When it hits a wall, the game realizes it should be somewhere else at that point in the timeline, and it jumps there. But, the whole timing is off, so it sends it into another wall, and so on.

That happens online sometimes (the incoming data on the coordinates and timing of other racers gets scrambled a bit), so it wouldn't surprise me if that was possible with ghost data.

That sounds like an awesome glitch!

Yeah, sorta figured. With online, i assumed if the 3DS didnt "know" where the person was going, ghost data would take over for a minute, ive seen people fall over edges and then appear on the track instantly. The weirdest part was how it triggered: beat him by lap 2
