  • Faster loading of DSiWare, 3DSWare and Virtual Console games.
  • Chat Features with friends.
  • Video recording.
  • Include a screen shot of game or application when using the 'notes' feature.
  • uncompressed pictures (if they are being compressed)
  • streetpass and spotpass support and miniature menu with notes, friend list, notifications and web browser when using the compatibility layer; they have the return to home menu so I am sure they could do this using the ram that is free.

yeah... maybe they got something on work, and didnt have time or werent satisfied yet to put it at launch.
they kinda launched it too soon.

Yeah, I'm still hoping that they add some kind of messaging system with a future update.
The most important thing is that the 3DS has good games... as long as that's fulfilled then I'm pretty satisfied.
But a good messaging system would be nice.

Better backwards-compatibility for DS games. Currently they look pretty ghetto on the 3DS screens.

As far as chat, I'd even settle for a few more characters in my status message, so that I can actually say what I'm doing or playing or thinking in a coherent way, and the ability to send people email-like messages. The Wii even had that last one. Why doesn't the 3DS, since it's pretty much a step forward in almost every other way? If it truly is because of the protection of children, isn't that what those parental controls are for? If a parent is concerned about their child interacting with strangers, they will take measures to prevent it, otherwise it's just frustratingly archaic and restrictive for adults and teens to look at an essentially useless friendlist all the time and think, "This would be cool if..."

I totally agree with you.
Fingers crossed they address this with a future update.

I hope so too but if not, oh well. I still love the system and think it's the best handheld gaming console I've ever had. It's just that one little thing...

I guess I'm glad I have a computer though, so that when the multiplayer online games I'm excited about do begin to come (ie Mario Kart and Animal Crossing) I can come to message board lobbies and set up games that way. =3

Yeah... It'd just be a nice bonus if they add it.
The most important thing is just keeping the great gameplay coming.

I see complaining about the taxes on your 3DS downloads, there is an easy way around it.

If you buy over the 3DS your points card you pay a state tax of whatever %. I know by some zips they also have that pop up, just pop a zip code in for a place that doesn't charge more (my area doesn't or I would have.)

I found a way around the paying for the point card tax that worked and saved me like a dollar and a quarter in taxes. I went to a retail outlet and got the $20 point card, they didn't charge me tax, I just gave over a twenty dollar bill. Curious I went home and I bought Let's Golf 3D and 3D-Xevious about a week ago, and neither of them charged me tax either, so I got both games and the points tax free. Just do that.

Technically it's illegal to put in a fake zip code.

Yeah well technically they don't check it and I've seen a lot of pissed off people with point cards using the method online so until they decided to system lock your zip code I'd call it fair game.

Regardless though if you buy the point card vs pay for it over wifi/eShop you do save on the tax. Doing the zip code thing just saves you from possibly being regionally taxed once, if not twice (buying eShop the points, then taxed again putting in the zip if it asks for it.) Technically double taxation isn't legal either. :D

I'm just saying you're not supposed to do that, and you could get fined for it. Double taxation is something you have to talk to your local government about.

Well I guess that's theoretically possible if Nintendo did report the falsified zip codes entered into a 3DS, but my area isn't lame like that so it's whatever comes off the card. The good point of it still stands in that if you buy a point card vs using the credit card online you can legally dodge paying tax on getting the points.

Well of course I would like a messenging system.

I would also like more things for our Miis to do besides streetpass things. Mii's are really underused apart from being thrown into the occasional game as a playable character. Is that all they are good for? They could be much more....

No doubt at least some of these ideas will more or less be put into the new 3DS system.
I just hope it doesn't come out soon... People will feel duped all over again.

No one can say which video game console is the "best". Just the one they like the most.

The 3DS needs a proper messaging/chat system. Also, I'd like it if the friends that are currently online to be sent to the front of the friends list so I don't have to scroll through a ton of people to figure out who is online. A list of games that your friends have would be nice too.

Oh, and the ability to download full retail games on the eShop. The PSP has been able to do it for years. Some games can be kind of hard to find at retail.
