Topic: Things to worry about 3DS

I'm worried about it as a whole. I mean everything thought the Wiimote was amazing, but 90% of the games for the Wii didn't make proper use of the remote, who's to say this won't happen with the 3DS with 3D and the tilt controls?

I'm also VERY VEEERY pessimistic about their online strategy, as I've always been. They've just sucked at online since they've ever tried.

Also, I'm worried Nintendo's attempts at bringing some functionality and more multimedia options to the 3DS will be another failed attempt like the DSi with the crap browser and lack of a video player supporting proper formats.

The took it out of the DSi, why would they put it back, especially when they can get you to buy GB games on the Virtual Handheld. Just keep your Game Boy/Color/Advance/SP whatever. Also, what's so bad about downloadable content? (not that a Nintendo product would ever support it)

I have ONE MAJOR WORRY with Nintendo 3DS!

Me + 3D = a very sick person so if I throw up on my new Nintendo 3DS when I get it... will it still work?

I call them old people kicking and screaming against the trends and direction of the video game industry.
It'll be all digital in 15-20 years but people don't want it to, nothing will change this....Cept maybe the collapse of the global economy but anywho!

@vonseux.... oh yeah I know, its not really that big of an issue unless Im wearing glasses with 3D over them which of course isnt needed thankfully on 3DS. Really looking forward to 3DS and as its Nintendo its always going to be limited in some aspects but that is how they stay affordable. Love it for what it is, and for what it isnt you have Sony and Microsoft to fill that void.

3DS is even getting praised by the head of Sony.

Loads of shovelware. Possibly inevitable, if this sells like hot cakes.
And with that, shovelware titles with 3D effects being "SHITS FLYING AT YA!"

I agree on the worry that the 3D and tilt effects won't be exploited entirely. Look at the Wii. At best, most games just have you wiggle the remote. Super Paper Mario barely even uses the motion sensors.

NO THEY DON'T!

Thanks for proving my point

As for the platformers, I believe Nintendo stated that they would be making some sort of 2D Mario game eventually. Just because none have been announced for launch doesn't mean that there won't be any. The 3DS will be around for several years and we won't know everything that'll be on it right away.

Funny you should mention that

...wait a minute, several games did technically have Downloadable content (as in add-ons) on the Wii and DS. I guess it's too late for that.

@Vonseux

By emphasis on online, do you mean emphasis on online play? I can agree with that, at least. It's like every game these days need online MP or some other feature despite the fact that it doesn't always work with the game. Not mention a lot of modern games have singleplayers that suffer from the MP emphasis. And I'll tell you, you show me a game that's only good with friends, and I'll show you a game that's not worth my time.

With that said, if you're making a Beat 'em up and you don't include online Multiplayer, I honestly think you need your head rearranged. That entire genre is only good in multiplayer. Not including online MP in a beat 'em up is like begging people to not buy your game.

Too much emphasis on online
Shovelware
Stylus Placement (needs to be on top of the unit)
Ergonomics (the DS Phat was much more comfortable than its brick-shaped successor)
Style Size (needs to be small)
Lack of backwards compatibility with GB/GBA games; If it had this, I would buy a 3DS in a heartbeat. As it stands, I won't be buying one
Price
Lack of good games
Downloadable content is a no-no

Hmmmmmm. It seems to me the only valid concerns you have are price and finding one. First of all GBA games can be played on a game boy which are not expensive used, and if you have game boy games than in theory you would/should have a game boy to with it right?
sure nintendo products have shovelware, but if every single game for the system was amazing would any of us have any money left in our pockets? NO.
3D and motion control, can be gimmicky but when used right, they can greatly enhance a game, both in looks and entertainment value.
I personaly hav 0 problems with the current line up of 3DS games considering they all look so far to be reamkes (with add ons) of great games, sequels to great games, or are being created by people who make great games.
Too much emphasis on online is not bad. if you don't want to use online then DON'T! i could understand if games were completely centered on online gaming, and you didn't have wi-fi, but i doubt that any games will only be playable online (like ridiculous advantages by playing online, or a very small single player content.).
Ergonomics- i have no idea what you are talking about. i thought the ds phat felt clunky and uncomforable to hold. the only problem with newer ds' are the inside edge, but it does not effect me negatively while im playing.
I think downloadable content is great. for example, in proffesor layton games you can download new puzzles that are created after the game is released. i like extra puzzles. also i like downloading ghost races in mariokart wii. and i like downloading quests and buying things in the DQVC in DQIX. Although the ds does need to be small to fit in pockets, and so its easy to hold.

My biggest worry is that we'll go through another console without seeing an F-Zero game. We should have had one on the DS, we should have had one on the Wii, at least give us one now.

I'd have to echo a lot of the people here and say battery life. It seems like marketing-wise the Big N is kinda doing okay. Games-wise? Give me some awesome 3DS-to-Wii connectivity, please. Also, I am worried that most of the franchises will be ports; or lame off-shoots like PILOTWINGS RESORT. Seriously, I've waited 15 years for a new PILOTWINGS and I'm going to be flying around Wuhu Island? Also, the prices are worrying me. Why aren't Zelda and Star Fox 64 selling for $34.99? Ports and remakes should be cheaper. And don't even get me started on Tecmo charging $50 for DOA and Samurai Warriors!!!

You havn't seen BAD BOYS 2 ???!!

WhiteTrashGuy

Oh, and for all the people complaining about a lack of 2D games . . . CASTLEVANIA will be 2D - Unless they port 64 or Legacy of Darkness, lol.

It's so stupid how there is shovelware yet kids under the age of seven aren't allowed to play the 3DS
IT'S TOTAL BLASPHEMY

Kids under the age of 7 can play the 3DS. Nintendo just advises that they do it with the 3D effect turned off. Shovelware ahoy!

BTW, games aimed at under 7s are not all shovelware and all shovelware is not aimed at kids under 7.
