Topic: Things to do on 3DS other than games?

Hey guys, I am finally getting my 3DS this week, and I just wondered what else there is to do other than playing amazing games? I know some of you would say "Google it", but I don't want to look at multiple lists with different information, so I just would like to hear opinions and ideas from the community.

Could you describe these in 10-15 words? : p

Streetpass- a feature where you recieve other players' data by passing by their 3DS. You exchange Miis, time trial runs, etc.
Mii Plaza- make Miis. Not much more I can say, really.
Camera/3D Video- self explanitory. You can take 3D pictures and record 10 minutes of 3D video. There's also an app called Nintendo Video where you can watch certain 3D video clips.
Nintendo letter box/Swapnote- a feature where you can send notes to your friends. Much cooler than it sounds.
AR Games- games that utilize augmented reality features. You recieve cards with your 3DS that you can use this for.

You can also browse the web, play regular DS games, listen to music (MP3s, etc.), as well as make 10 second recordings of sounds/music ideas you have. There's also an ability to take notes while playing games, which is interesting enough. I've only used it for one, but it can be nifty. You can also download other apps/games through the eShop.

Streetpass is where you can download the Mii data of other people who you pass by who also own a 3DS. This is used for minigames though, so I suppose it doesnt qualify. Mii Plaza is where you'd actually play with the Mii's you've collected.
The 3DS comes with a 3D Camera/Video which you can try out, which utilise the AR Games (Augmented reality).
Nintendo LetterBox is basically email software for the 3DS where you can send messages to friends 3DS' with drawings or text in 3D.

None of the above is really impressive though, and has very little relavence outside of gaming.
The 3DS comes with an internet browser and note functionality as well if it interests you.
It's also worth noting that if you're into art you can buy 'Colors 3D' from the eShop to paint some 3D artwork.

@moomoo Thanks, this sounds so great! AR games thing is a bit confusing, but I guess I'll just have to find out. How good are the browser and music player?

The music player is a lot of fun!
The internet browser... the best thing I can say for it is that it serves its purpose.

Good as a cup coaster or for something to sit your vita on.

The music player is decent enough. But apart from a couple of minor interactive features and a Game and Watch style game, it's not exactly a selling point.

The internet browser is okay, although it's nowhere near as good as any browser you can get on a PC. Honestly though, I don't think any browser found on a video game console is good enough to really use for long periods of time, with the possible exception of the Wii U one.

The features/apps I use frequently besides games are:

Swapnote (or Letter Box in EU) - for sharing pictures or talking to friends, send notes without postage (lol)

web browser - slow as mobile browsers go, but load mobile sites fairly quickly so you can check your email, read NL news, post photos, etc.

music player - it also has novelty pitch and speed sliders so if you ever wanted to hear what your favourite song sounds like at chipmunk pitch ...

camera - average webcam quality, but it's handy for taking a photo of something quickly to send to your friends

Another free app is Nintendo Video. It doesn't have YouTube videos and there's usually only a few at a time, mainly episodes of Dinosaur Office, some MVs and such. As others said, hardly a selling point, but it's something to do.

There are a few great non-game applications on the eShop. They're not free, though.
Colors!3D for drawing/painting, Inchworm Animation to make short animated movies, the Rytmik series to write music... (The last two are DSiWare, so not in 3D) There are probably others that I don't know, but I love these three to bits.

Please correct me if I write something weird: English is not my native language. ;)

You can use it as a back scratcher, chop it into itty bits and make it into dogfood, and even use it to plunge your toilet! The Nintendo 3ds is an amazingly multipurpose device, who says you just use it to game?

Because they secretly know they love it. What they desire more is the attention of random people on the internet, and thus the troll is born.

The best use other than gaming would be to bring up the fact that it is selling better den da Vita. Internet on 3DS was added so you can perform a quick troll on NL while taking a dump
