This is terrible. Just terrible.
I only play mobile games for very brief moments to pass away time when I'm bored.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

I am not against mobile games (That I would play on a tablet with real controls) if they are just the same as a normal console game. (No DLC or Micro transactions just one price).

Much nicer screen and much more powerful hardware than the 3DS.

I have seen Ace Attorney on the ipad and I cannot see how anybody would want to play it on the DS given that option. (Looks nicer and its significantly cheaper).

Here's my logic : When a person buys an Iphone or Samsung Galaxy, they buy a phone. They are going to use it for phone calls, checking emails, looking up latest stock price, take selfies and sometimes gaming.

When a person buys a gaming device, they are going to use it to game. Plain and simple.

The problem with your logical there is that you are stuck in the past. People nowadays buy a tablet and phone for all that and they buy gaming consoles for all that. Since when do gaming consoles just play games anymore? The thing is all this technology is starting to blend now so that there is no more a dedicated device just for that. Heck if you want to get technical you can use home consoles as phones cause of skype and what not.

Again, you do not buy a phone just to play games on it. Similarly your main purpose on buying a game console is not to use it for skype. I understand devices nowadays are very capable functioning as multiple devices, however they still serve a main purpose.

Why does this happen?
The Japanese market is completely different.
They take mobile games much more seriously. They don't mind as much that their new Mana RPG is on mobile devices, because the mobile market in Japan is large.
@Jollykarp YES! This! Mobile games are cheaper, they have a much broader audience. It's so easy to go into a mobile game. I'm a big fan of Capcom fighters, because Capcom made it so acessible on the mobile platform. I plan to begin Ace Attorney with the Ace Attorney HD Trillogy. It seems fitting. I started going into Final Fantasy in FF Dimensions. Mobile games get too much flack, over dumb overreactions, when it's a brilliant market for some (but not all) developers.

I only play mobile games when I forgot to bring my 3DS with me....

Before I got my 3DS I usually play Pheonix HD on my Iphone when I'm waiting in line.

YOu would be surprised at how many people do now. I know people that have bought a PS3 just for the fact that it plays Blu rays, has an internet browser can stream netflix etc. I know people who have bought phones just for gaming as well. Besides you realize that mobile gaming also includes tablets.

Also if you really want to play the new Mana game on a home console buy an OUYA that runs mobile games and its a home console.

I was really enticed to get the Ouya when it first came out. But kinda lost the steam after reading several reviews. Maybe the next one.

I'm not against mobile gaming, I'm really not. Mobile gaming has their own charm, but to put Mana on mobile games? Come on. Similarly you wouldn't want to see Candy crush on the Wii U would you?

To pay $600 ++ for a inferior gaming experience? Those people must be loaded. I assumed they already have consoles but also want to play some mobile exclusives...? Otherwise I really can't see people going "Nah I'm not gonna get the PS4, I'm going to get a S4 instead."

Just because you don't buy a phone for gaming doesn't mean nobody else does. Stop speaking for everyone.

I'll start caring about mobile games when it stops being a cesspool of tricking kids and people with gaming compulsion issues to constant pay to do anything in their borderline non-games.

Or when I stop preferring to play the arcade version of Infinity Blade on a giant touch screen at D&B's.

Or when my Nintendo systems that have touch screens stop having indies.

Or when there aren't several awesome releases on average per month on things that aren't mobile.

the main problem of defending mobile gaming is that there is also lots of good gaming on actual, gaming devices and services that involve less avoiding shovelware so until I stop caring about those, I have no reason to bother. I have enough things to do, which is ironically why most casual gamers are into mobile gaming. To put it simply, I find it hard to justify for nearly any actual hardcore gamer (no quotation marks for once) to get into mobile gaming unless they've lost the time to spend on other gaming devices. This is similar to say, how NSMBU is probably an honestly good game but recommending it over 3D World or Rayman Legends is silly and you shouldn't do it.

I did not say people do not get a phone for gaming. I'm just saying they will not treat it as a dedicated gaming device. Why is it so hard to grasp?

Because you didn't ask everyone if they did. You're only assuming this.

And if they did, why would it change anything? People no longer buy dedicated devices just to game

This however, I agree. My wife uses our Wii U to watch netflix. So much for off TV gaming.

Point is there really isn't any reason to buy any device for one purpose. Even if people don't buy phones just to game, they might still want to play games on their phones.

I certainly didn't buy the 3DS to take low-res 3D photos or use the clunky Internet browser. I use it exclusively to game.

My friend was torn between a kindle fire and a 3DS, because he wanted it mainly for Youtube and a few other apps, time killers. I convinced him yesterday to get a 3DS XL because of games like Fire Emblem and whatever else may interest him. Telling him the 3DS had a youtube app is what sold him on it. I know a girl who bought a PS3 specifically for it's blu-ray player and Netflix app. The gaming side is a perk. I know, it's strange.

Is there anything on YouTube interesting enough to even warrant buying a mobile device to watch it?
