Topic: The Top Five Most Obnoxious Things In Kid Icarus: Uprising

Posts 1 to 20 of 103

I'd like to start off by saying that I love Kid Icarus: Uprising. But like any video game it does have certain things that just drive me up the wall sometimes. Anyway, here are my top five pet peeves!

#5 You can't pick or otherwise vote for the stage you play on in Together Mode.
One would think that you'd be able to do that like in the Mario Kart series or Super Smash Bros. Brawl (which ironically is the game that Uprising is heavily modeled after), but unfortunately you sometimes end up playing on the same arena over, and over, and over again with no say in the matter!

#4 The rewarding system for the end of Together Mode Matches is 100% random.
Now I'm not talking about the bonus weapon/power that get randomly thrown at someone that everyone sees; No, I'm talking about when sometimes you do poorly (say one kill and three killed) and you get a weapon and/or power, and then another time you get first place with a lot of kills and you get nothing! Rather skewed idea if you ask me...

#3 The vehicles' steering issues.
Now I have to admit, driving such vehicles as the Exo Tank, Aether Ring, and Cherubot is really fun. I mean, how awesome is it to just drive/smash through foes right? The only problem is, it would be more fun if we could steer without too much difficulty. Due to it's slow speed, the Cherubot is the easiest. The Aether Ring isn't that bad either, but it still brakes oddly and bounces around like a pinball if you hit walls, which can be especially troublesome in tight spaces. But the worst is the Exo Tank. One moment you'll be cruising along chasing down enemys when suddenly your prey makes a sharp turn. In other words, you either crash straight into a wall or drive right off a cliff, costing you precious health AND the vehicle itself! In short, the driving controllers could have been better.

#2 Mimicuties.
You find yourself heading towards a treasure chest, hoping to get some goodies. But what happens? It spawns a pair a woman's legs! At first glace, it doesn't seem at all dangerous, if not rather comical. But then before you know it (especially on high Intensities) your being kicked down to half your health! Even if you try to run away and shoot it from afar, it has an abnormally (for it's size) large amount of health, and will dogmatically hunt you down. Dodging? Even that won't save you from this merciless mistress. Dodge the first round of kicks, and you'll just find yourself circling right back into the torrent of flinging limbs! All in all, this unassuming chest with legs almost takes the crown from the Eggplant Wizard for the Most Obnoxious Enemy.

#1 Bosses don't have a visible health bar.
Health bars on bosses are nice. You can tell when you are almost to the point of finishing your foe or not even close to touching it. While not being able to see it isn't that bad in itself, when it comes to this particular game it's a severe handicap. The reason mostly being that in a number of Treasure Hunts you are required to finish off a boss with a certain attack or while in a perilous state (i.e Crisis Mode). So it's almost all guess work as to how much more you need to beat down on the enemy before unleashing the specific attack, thus leading to much frustration.

Like I've said before, I love this game to death, but there are some things that could have been avoided/fixed. So what are your top five least favorite things?

#5) What was the point of turning into a little girl or a dog, you hardly did anything with them.
#4) Childish dialogue/voice acting felt like I was listening to a 4Kids translation which also led me to not taking Hades seriously.
#3) That I couldn't choose between Paletuna's or Viridi's hub areas.
#2) Dark Pit was lame there was no real reason for him to even exist, they just put him in there because Japan loves those hard a** type of characters in their anime/games.
#1) I hated what the ultimate sacred armor was, it's just such a Japanese thing.

Excluding #3 I LOVED all those things.

I was able to ignore every little problem with the game since it really was extremely amazing. The only big problem I had was the controls which weren't too hard to master.

Wow. After you beat the game, you can go to options and change the hub area. It's not a problem.

Really? Thank you ^_^
Now I'm down to 4. I liked the game it's just that these things kinda bugged me a little but not enough to ruin my experience with this game though.

You know, you can dodge them. Just make one swift tap to the side right before it kicks. It'll stay in place for a few seconds to do it's kick combo, and you'll be behind her .

Um, I really liked the voice acting. All the characters were really fleshed out and had a ton of personality. Its the best voice acting I've heard in a game in a while.

The only problem is, I tend to be a bit spazmatic when I try to dodge it.
And apparently everyone forgot what the topic was!

Mimicuties aren't much of a problem, and I'm fine with no boss meter, as having one would make some achievements WAY too easy. Other than that I agree.

I have to agrre with Soccer686, and for me, the ultra Japanese stuff made it even better. Wheather it be the Great Sacred Treasure, the Tempura Wizard, or even the Japanese flavored Bowl Arm, I loved it all. I also think that the voice acting suited the characters perfectly.

What complaints I have are small (no health bar for bosses, annoying vehicle sections).

I never said it was bad I just said it was childish. Like how Spongebob has childish voice acting but it's still good voice acting that gives the characters personality.

@TysonQ7
it was good voice acting, doesn't mean I liked it though. Just like how Zelda is an amazing series but I don't care for it. Plus this is just my opinion of what bugged me in the game but these were little things, they in no way ruined the game for me it was still a good game and I liked it. (face button aiming FTW!)
