Will the slidepad be backward-compatible with DS games? I'd love to use it on Super Mario 64 DS, and maybe Diddy Kong Racing DS.

It's too bad you can only use the stylus on Star Fox Command and Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. The slidepad would be so much better for them.

its kind like an analog controller stick, but with no protruding stick, just a slider surface to control movement.

I would sure hope it's backwards compatible. Imagine playing a DS game like Mario Kart DS with the D-pad on the 3DS, it would be awkward!

While i can't speak for Star Fox Command (never played it), i completely disagree about Zelda, since the game was specifically designed to use the stylus.

She-Ra is awesome. If you believe otherwise, you are clearly wrong.
Urban Champion is GLORIOUS.

This sort of thing wouldn't be able to have an impact on regular DS games. DS games can only recognize 8 directions due the D pad limitations, so a control stick wouldn't be able to add anything to that, because the game simply couldn't recognize it.

True but it could be more comfortable by using a slider instead of holding down a d-pad's buttons. Not to mention it would be easier to make diagonal moves compared to doing it on a d-pad.

i think theres a possibility, nintendocould make a gba card slot to put in the bottom of the ds to make it work. if they can do it for the wifi and rumble pack this should be a done deal.

Didn't it work on Virtual Console?

I personally would enjoy an N64 slot on my 3DS, can you imagine 3D Ocarina of Time?

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

Meh, Poe's Law. I've been on enough gaming forums to know to never underestimate the potential for stupidity.

I am still not sold on the directional pad and the slidepad being so close together. I just think it looks awkward to use the traditional directional pad. Hands are going to be at different levels. It may take a little getting used to...
