If it happens, they'd have to release a jungle green/see-through 3DS/Wii U with it. I still have my jungle green N64 with DK64 and the box and everything. I can't bare to part with it.
I would like to say right now that the world needs a new collectathon 3D platformer and as long as they aren't dumb enough to have most of the game be lame minigames and replaying the entire level with every character to arbitrarily increase playtime, I'd completely approve of this.
If they really do decide to make it, it might be easier for them to make it for the 3DS. We all know about the infamous affair between Rare and Microsoft, but Microsoft isn't in the handheld business. Rare got by with making a Diddy Kong Racing remake for the DS, so Camelot might have an easier time using some of Rare's characters like Chunky Kong and other elements by going on the 3DS. The 3DS is a tribute to the Nintendo 64 anyway.
Then again, I wouldn't complain at all if they did it on the Wii U where it would be on a home console and in HD.

Whoever made the stupid rumor that Rare owns any Kong character needs to be punched in the face. It is not true, Rare doesn't own Donkey Kong stuff!
