but man... they need a way to keep it cool, your hands will melt !
remember when apple launched the power mac G4 cube at the start of the 21st centuary? it had air vents to allow it to cool silently without a fan. it probably is a patented technology but i could be wrong
This is ground control to major Tom, you've really made the grade. And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare
and yes YES rounded angles. the 3ds gives me this problem: i get pressure points on my hands and they hurt a little after an hour, and it gets red and uncomfortable after 2... geez
You must either have some sensitive hands, or have never had a DSi before. The rounded edges of the 3DS are a great improvement over the square-ish design of the DSi, although I didn't find the DSi to be that bad either.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

the feel of the dsi did not really bother me for long periods of time. what i hated more was the mushy buttons. clicky > mushy anyday

This whole thread has me thinking to myself 'Is SimmerE14 mad?'
Seriously, I could see opening this thread four years from now. But the 3DS is still a young star in the night sky that has't even begun to shine as brightly as Venus in the primordial hours before the dawning of the day.

Sounds more like an interesting thing for arcades to me. I mean it's cool that you think ahaead, SimmerE14 but i don't see this made as a portable or home console by Nintendo for a very long time. Keep in mind that they're always concerned that anybody not playing can easily watch or participate in what the other is playing.
And i also don't even want to think about what the next portable could be like with the 3DS having a lot of potential that's yet unused.

No, just curious and imaginitive. My parents always say I have a huge imagination!

Ah, imagination my friend, imagination! Imagination is a wonderful thing indeed.
I'm sorry SimmerE14. I didn't know.
I was just a little disconcerted to see people already looking beyond the here and now as I've always thought it was a good thing to take one day at a time, especially now that I'm 22 and every day only takes us adults closer to the grave, God have mercy on our mortal souls.
So, yes I think it's good to imagine and dream. I just won't be thinking to much about another Nintendo handheld console as I've just gotten the 3DS and I'm enjoying it quite immensely. I can't even begin to think about another handheld from Nintendo because It would detract from the enjoyment of my 3DS. As excited as I am for the Sony NGP I try not to even think about it although I'm looking forward to the E3 to learn of it's price. It's good to just focus on the miracle of the moment instead of looking across the flow of time into tomorrow in matters such as these.

I know what you mean! High School is going by WAY to fast It feels like yesterday I just started high school, and three years I'll be done and going to college!
I really, really, really, really, hate the feeling of growing up :/

That's all good and well but if you want to be serious (lolz, serious about console speculation on a gamer forum?) then you need to think about three things: 1. Is there something you can't do on the current console? 2. Is that new thing big enough that it makes different sorts of games possible while enhancing existing games? 3. Will people will buy it?
I think the 3DS has answered those questions pretty well for now

Sounds a lot like the Wii U.

What he said. Not even 6 months after the release of the 3DS and this topic arises? Shut up.
So now we have the 3DS which is pretty much a DS with more graphical power, a 16:9 top screen, 3D and motion controls.
Actually, the 3DS top screen is 5:3 or 15:9, not 16:9. It's a common mistake. :3
Anyway, I was going to say that the next DS should have a holographic screen, but that technology probably won't be available for a reasonable price until at least 10 years later, so maybe the succesor to the succesor to the 3DS could have it? But I want the next DS to make both screens touch sensitive (I don't want either screen to be multitouch if it means losing the ability to use a stylus) and in 3D. There should also be a brightness slider like the 3D depth slider which can be used to adjust the brightness to ANY level at ANY time. The L and R buttons should be pressure sensitive like the ones on the classic controllers for the Wii. Finally the screen resolution should be an integer multiple of the 3DS' resolution to avoid problems with image scaling for backwards compatibility (I am assuming the next DS will be backwards compatible with at least the 3DS.)
If the 3DS has not been discontinued SM3DL and MK7 are awesome games, but if the 3DS has been discontinued Sony has taken over the world. It is not true that both Sony has taken over the world and SM3DL and MK7 are not awesome games. Therefore:Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 are...

When they go next gen I want new design most of all. I think the DS and 3DS are a little to alike. I agree on that 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' but it's a little boring.
Same thing goes for the Vita. This handheld generation looks almost exactly like the last one.
