How about a multiplayer fps where each player sticks an AR card on his forehead and you run around trying to shoot each other.
I had that same exact idea when the DSi came out.

Animal Crossing AR Card - Point your 3DS at the card; it evolves into a little Animal Crossing-looking house. Out steps a little human, who waves at you. You can then move this human around the area surrounding your card using the circle pad.
How about advertising posters which have some form of AR symbol on them - you scan them, and up pops a hint on where another one is, or a clue as part of a larger game? Or they could expand this - having AR symbols on posters, in magzines, certain websites etc. which unlock special features or characters in a game. Say youre playing Pokemon Gen 6 (Earth/Space maybe) at a bus stop, and you see a poster for the game which has a small AR symbol. You scan it, and it gives you an item in game, or maybe a new Pokemon.
@Keroro1979: I think QR codes would make more sense for those kind of things.
Another idea: a soccer game could come with a large AR card. Place it on the floor and a soccerball will appear. Kick it! The camera's should be able to detect the motion of your foot and the angle of your kick compared to the AR card.
Luigi's Mansion would be a PERFECT first-person game for AR. Turn the lights out, walk around your dark house, the ghosts pop out at you and you suck them up, all to the sound of Luigi's terrified screams in the background.

I totally should work for Nintendo.
That won't work because the AR cards need to be in light for the 3DS to read them

I think a game like that would be AR more in the sense of Face Raiders, not AR cards. Anyway, if they could perfect backing away from and moving towards objects then that would be a great idea! They could also impliment soemthing having to do with turning lights on. Like if the 3DS sees that the picture just got significantly brighter it could make all the ghosts go away. I think Nintendo could really run with this idea. At least they could make it into some special mini game in a Luigi's Mansion sequal. Like some special testing room in E. Gadd's laboratory. Damn, now I'm dreaming of a new Luigi's Mansion
Fully Animated Pokemon Battles...wait for it...ON YOUR TABLE!! That would be AMAZING!!
I think the Pokemon Trading Cards would be sweet. The Pokemon Company really should look into this and it will keep things organized without battle counters and all that. Plus, you can select moves on the touchscreen and see the Pokemon battle it out.
I've seen other AR apps allow people to take pictures, crop them, and map them to a card. More than image can be mapped to make a shape or a more robust 3d object. Just letting people create some of their own cards would be a lot of fun, I think.
For those who mentioned the card games (Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, etc.) and putting them in Nintendo Power, I totally agree and would love to see these happen. That would be just amazing.

I have an interesting idea for people thinknig Pokémon battles on the table.... If you've ever played Invisimals on PSP, and how you kinda use your environments and colors to find them, then you have an idea where I'm going with this... I think it would be cool to take this same/similar idea to be used to actually find and capture Pokémon in whatever environments they're natural to, and when you find some maybe hold up a card and be able to see them as if they were in their natural environments as they appear in Pokémon Snap. And of course battling is definitely a must, but at least fill in their actual voices and not the expected eletronic-like sounds when you encounter them.

I find the AR card games extremely enthralling. Does anyone wish or think in the future they could or would make full games with these?
If they did and they included multiplayer either in streetpass proximity or online would be amazing. I know there would be alot of things to overcome with an online aspect of it, but i think a console to console experience would be so much fun, a shooter with walls or a pong like game i think could be extremely fun and a worthwhile experience.
Two people dancing around a table in a battle i think would be not only fun to participate in but a site to see. I'm 26 and i would be in an arcade or card shop doing tournaments to get that experience if they could make these worthwhile.
I can not wait for Galaga on 3DS! 3DS Friend me at 4854-6445-6611. Hope you have a Tony the Tiger GGGGGgg-REAT day!
i know i said this before but why doesn't E-reader make a comeback in all its minigame gloryness? you know the inner 9 year old in you wants to play that balloon fight mini game again
This is ground control to major Tom, you've really made the grade. And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare
for super street fighter 4 it would be cool to use the ar to do the bonus games and have ryu trash a car on your table before your eyes. can u say EPIC??!!!! (1up)
