game help and video streaming.
you can see everyone with their iphone watching videos. its great to watch them in the bus.
i want video streaming like youtube or whatever.

i had to chose for nintendo over the ipad. because my favourite gaming consoles was gameboy and all its successors. i had everyone of them so far, but i almost skipped the 3ds due to its price.
for over 250$, i expect content out of this machine. i expect it to be up-to-date with current handheld system technologies like iphone or psp.

thats the thing so far with the 3Ds. its based on hope.

Flash isn't supported by iPhone or iPad, either, and it's not "current technology" by any stretch of the imagination. Again, I doubt the 3DS could handle it, anyway. Normally I'd be upset about lack of HTML5, but not supporting Flash makes up for it. I don't know the specifics of the browser, but it's possible that there's a way to work around this and watch YouTube videos. We might even get an update that enables it.

Why would they have a browser on Wii that supports flash but not on 3DS? Seems stupid to me.
Then again the Wii browser only got one update and it's still pathetic. Youtube works but barely.
I just use my computer for internet anyway.

A Youtube App is all we need if you really want to watch such on 3DS. Not a huge miss for me, though. Personally care more about eShop than the Browser. And then there's Netflix- so I can't wait for that.

i wanna watch videos from my sd card, how hard is that to code.
i want to be able to put .txt files on my card and read them. i always have plenty of personal notes or faqs for my RPGs, how hard is it to code a simple notepad ? seriously.

This is ridiculous. they achieve to create that 3D camera, and yet they didnt even put a simple text file reader on their machine.

i bought the 3ds for gaming of course. But handheld life has changed, and now iphone found the way to go. open to third party and indie developpers, load of small applications or games. perfect for everyday use, bus riding, line waiting, toilet using, etc.
i mean, the handheld is something you carry around in your everyday life, it has to be able to fit those 5 minutes now and then. nintendo has to competition with this iphone, it has to take that and add more to crush apple.

I didn't really plan on using my 3DS for the internet anyway.

yeah those things could be done by one employee from nintendo i think^^
it is not like they have to care about contracts or that stuff because nobody demands to have a phone app on a nintendo handheld. but just little small things would be cool

didn't YouTube announce they'll soon handle 3D videos?

they've had 3D videos for a while but they just recently enabled stereoscopic 3D, which seemed to coincide pretty neatly with the 3DS update coming up. i had thought maybe they'd worked something out to make 3D videos viewable on the 3DS, i guess it's still possible....

Hopefully an update, because they never improved neither the Wii or DSi browser. Perhaps its for the best that they don't add on flash.

I mean there might be an Youtube channel in the works?

this wouldt surprise me.
Nintendo seems so scared that younger users see what they shouldnt, or read things they shouldnt.
it even surprise me they let internet to come in.

I dont mind if they bring in applications related to videos or popular websites. it can go much better, but it can also be super controled and secured too. I like to watch random things, some of them include horror videos or metal music. will that be censored or simply blocked? geez. i didnt buy the 3ds as a toy, but as a console. i hope they wont make that mistake.

they can simply install the applications already blocked by the parental lock, requiring them to be granted by the user or the parents. this way, you cant install something without having to unlock it properly and keep it secret from mommy and daddy.

You need to be a certain age to view some stuff on Youtube(which you may require an account to access the app if they make one), as for Netflix kids can watch anything on it. There are parental controls on the system but you may be only able to restrict internet, applications and browser which is not a bad idea for younger kids. I'd love to see an Hulu app where I can watch without paying for their super expensive premium service. I don't mind dealing with commercials.

This is exactly what's wrong with the tech industry. No company should try to pass off a device as a universal media center, because no company specializes in every area. The idea that one handheld should be able to do everything instead of focusing on what it was meant for is ridiculous, because nobody can do everything right. No matter how good you are at something, there's always someone who can do another thing better.

I realize the iPhone is an exception, but only to a certain extent. Apps have gone a long way to making it the "all-purpose" machine, but it still can't do everything. There are some great games on the app store, but you have to swim through an ocean of shovelware to find them. Most games would benefit from being on another system, too.

Most companies think that they should do everything just because they're really good at one thing. Now we have a bunch of different types of devices that are good at what they're supposed to do, but really sloppy with everything else. The fact that most devices have a built in text editor makes the 3DS's lack of one a good thing.

Booohoo we can't go to YouTube now, or use facebook properly without lagging. Big woop, I'm satisfied with the browser. But I'm not satisfied with this and the eShop being the only things that will fill the gaps on my 3DS.

Anyone could borrow me a glass of milk?

It looks like it does have some HTML5 support. Just not video. Even the DSi browser had some HTML5 support.

Keep in mind HTML5 does not mean videos, it simply has the capability to play them depending on your browser.

Meh, no reason for me to ever use it then. I would have liked flash, because that's the one thing my iPhone can't do. Would have been handy.

Am I crazy, or was there a NintendoLife news article on this topic which subsequently disappeared? I could have sworn I read one yesterday. 0_o
