hi,
I just got my new 3ds with Zelda Majora mask, but there is a problem which I had never encountered in the old 3DS, the 3D display is not all right, I mean when I played for example the included on memory 3D video, the flying paper was doubled !! its not giving me a centered 3D, I tried bringing it front back move my head its never overlapped the way it should, when I played Zelda, the mask in the intro movie which rotates was basically 2 adjacent masks rotating, took off my glasses wore them again no effect !!! is it damaged ??

I would appreciate any helpful info about it !! thnx n advance

Some "ghosting" is natural with 3D, and some people, like me, seem to be more sensible to it. The way you describe it, though, seems to be more than that. I think you should try looking at someone else's 3DS/N3DS.

Wasn't there an option in system setting to calibrate the 3D effect?
And is it only with Majora's Mask?, or do you have the same amount of ghosting with other titles?

Hey, I get the same effect you are sometimes. I am new to the system myself.
It doesn't always do it mind you.

For instance, in Bravely Default, I see two of the main character, the one I am supposed to see, and a second "see through" version of him. I can alleviate this and still have 3D by dialing back the 3D slider. This gives you less of a 3D effect though.
However, I have also noticed that I can have it all the way up and not see it by removing outside distractions. For instance, I found that if I didn't have the tv on in my bedroom at night I couldn't see it and or any other forms of light hitting the screen.

Other games like Pokemon it doesn't do this at all. I can't find any ghosting. For lack of a better term.

I still wonder if my system is OK myself as sometimes the 3D all the sudden pops out of position and then back into position without provocation or changes in position or anything. What I am going to test here is if the stable 3d thing is not seeing my face due to dark or because of my glasses. Gonna try a few methods. It is either that or its defective.

EDIT: I have noted that when I see it most is light colors on a dark background. The lighter colors being sent to the front by the 3D effect. Thats when I notice it the most.

Ghosting when a light object is in front of a dark background is normal. If that's the case your system isn't defective, it's just a normal aspect of steroscopic 3D.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Yeah, I figured that. Its the popping out of position that has me worried. I don't know how to describe it, it almost makes me go cross eyed for a moment and then it pops back in view. This is not my eyes adjusting as I had my girlfriend looking at it from the side and she saw the adjustment. Happens when I am alone also, not moving, hands in the same spot, no movement on screen or anything and pop, and then pop right back. Its weird.

I did calibrate it , and that did not help, I have noticed also that in majora mask the objects shift to left and right, and its the worst in Zelda but its there In Mario too, in the 3d video included as well ... I tried covering the front cam with my finger, it almost gives the same effect

Ghosting is normal on the new 3ds and the majority of 3D displays, if that's what you are experiencing. Even the regular 3ds has ghosting, you must of just not noticed it.

There seems to be a ghosting sweet spot that most of the ghosting disipear a if you hold it in the same position, kinda like the 3d sweet spot on the 3ds. You know you don't need 3d at 100% and by lowering it by 10-30% it eliminates most of the ghosting and still looks very 3d?
Most games have ther on intensity that the DEVS choose with the 3d but imo most Devs get it wrong causing ghosting, thus by lowering the 3d with the slider you select what the 3d level should of been set at...

My suggestion is find a new 3ds kiosk and see if it's the same if it is then it's normal and your eyes might not like the new 3d as some people say they can't see it but could see the old 3d. Also if you have glasses try it without glasses as the 3d messes up with thick rimed glasses. If you have glasses -.7 seems to be the best setting for superstable 3d in the settings.

Go in the 3d setting where it shows a picture of a person in the right corner, if it says super stable 3d not working properly and then it goes blurry then either your lense is dirty on the new 3ds as the camera tracks you. Make sure no bright light is behind you while playing as the camera won't be able to track. Make sure you play with the new 3ds 14" away from your face, as the tracking won't be able to see your face and body. Even if you don't have glasses try -.7 in the super stable 3d settings if this doesn't help after you accept the settings just reset superstable 3d setting back to default.

If you are still having problems and you confirm its just your new 3ds with this problem after testing another one at a kiosk or a friend then return it to the store for a replacement,

thnx a lot for this informative reply, I did try some of your kind suggestions already, for example I tried recalibrating it, and when it was on the menu on which u can increase or decrease the numbers of 3d it was blinking every now and then with the message u mentioned (super stable 3d is not working properly), and it even made sense to me becoz in the same positions this message appeared the game had double things displayed in the game, the lens is clean and I tried without glasses, and no lights above or behind me, I think I need to try another new 3ds and c, otherwise it looks like it has to go back to the dealer...

Mine does that when on that screen too. Not functioning properly. I can get it to be normal by not having anything in the background that it might consider to be another face and or any light that can cause it to not track your own face properly.
Moving to fast will always make it say that. Which you should also note, any time your moving that fast your probably not playing at that very moment anyways.

thnx for the reply, I did try it in many situations, at home, in a car, dim lights and strong lights, with glasses and without, and it always does flicker in the game even not only on this screen , I can not be always standing to a white wall, they should have known that before releasing it !!

Just get it replaced. Sounds like a defect to me.

I had a little of that when I first got it. Oddly enough, I find that it does this less as time goes on. Whenever I first turn 3D on, it has trouble deciding where I am, but it eventually settles. Then, it has trouble when I move around and stuff, but after I test it a while, after a few minutes, it gets better and better at it. I don't know if it has some kind of learning program, but that's just my experience.

Got married.

You can turn super stable 3d off in setting. System Settings> Other Settings> SuperStable 3ds. Check if regular 3ds works first.

@ Hy8ogen : I agree with you , thnx

@ Nicolai: mmm , that's quite odd too, it is supposed to function normally before they claim that it detects our faces , good to hear tht it got fixed for you

@ Martarts: thnx for the idea, I tried that already and yes it works fine with super stable 3d off, but then I would end with regular 3ds XL, which I did not pay to get it ..
