Super Mario 3D Land is kind of amazing.

You are what you eat from your head to your feet.

Personally would have kept the Vita since it's getting a ton of games all the time but you've already said on does and niche Japanese games don't appeal to you.

Probably will get a Vita over the summer and than a Wii U because its the best of both worlds and I already have a 3DS and PS4.

WAT!

Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.

Good choice. The 3DS is an awesome handheld with lots of good games both retail and eShop. Kinda sucks that you had to part ways with your Vita, but I understand where you're coming from. I have no plans of selling mine but after I'm done with one game, it collects dust until I get around to buying a new game.

My personal favorite 3DS games:
LoZ A Link Between Worlds
Super Mario 3D Land
Mario Kart 7
Fire Emblem Awakening
Kid Icarus Uprising
Animal Crossing: NL
Pokemon Y
Luigi's Mansion DM
Resident Evil Revelations
SMT IV

@RR529 game suggestions are always welcome especially rpgs (even more so especially jrpg)

My familiarity with the 3ds library is more or less limited to the obvious Nintendo standouts Zelda, Mario, Pokémon etc. Beyond that I know about most of the huge hits? But not many of the lesser known rpgs especially.

Preferably hard armor yeah a shell for the console itself. The soft carrying case I have already provides light protection. Especially where it's a special edition I'd like to keep it scratch free as. Possible

Since it's a LE 3DS, you'd probably prefer the cases to be clear right? Have you tried the HORI TPU case (called Duraflexi in the US)? I heard that hard clear crystal cases can scratch your system, but I'm not entirely sure about that myself since I never used them. I do have the HORI TPU from Japan (wasn't available in clear at the time in the US) though and I haven't seen any scratch on my Zelda LE 3DS XL yet. It's clear enough so you can see the designs and what not of your 3DS XL, but it's not super clear, if that makes sense. Lol. It kinda lightens the color a bit... it's a bit more frosty? Lol. Well anyway, here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-XL-Duraflexi-Protector-Cle...

EDIT: Also, the one I have from Japan says Nintendo 3DS LL on the bottom left on it on the top piece of the case. The US one probably says Nintendo 3DS XL on the bottom left, but I'm not sure. Lol. Actually, scratch that. Seems like some people uploaded pictures on Amazon, and yup it says Nintendo 3DS XL.

Etrian Odyssey IV, Kid Icarus Uprising and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate are pretty great games. You should consider those.

I've heard a lot of good about etrian Odyssey but is the series a story continuation? Never played any of the former.

All of the Etrian Odyssey games are pretty much their own thing, so you have nothing to worry about. Etrian Odyssey IV is probably the best game in the series thus far if you want the classic hardcore dungeon-crawling experience. If you want something more akin to typical JRPGs with lots of cutscenes and dialogue, I recommend the story mode in Etrian Odyssey: Untold.

If you're American, enjoy JRPGs and don't mind a stiff challenge, I HIGHLY recommend Shin Megami Tensei IV. It's a dark, brutal, and incredibly satisfying game.

Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan is a great game! It's the only EO game I've ever played. Get ready to grind though.....and I mean LOTS of grinding!!! Don't let that deter you though, for RPG nuts like myself, grinding is a good thing!

If you like puzzles, look into Professor Layton, its a great series.

Robin Hood and little john running through the Forrest, hopping fences, dodging trees, tryin' t' get away........

If you like JRPGs, and fighting... Monster Hunter. There's a couple hundred hours for you right there.
On top of that, look at Kid Icarus: Uprising, Fire Emblem Awakening, and the upcoming Smash Bros as some suggestions.

Once you get past the 30 frames per second, recycled/ familiar worlds and borrowed elements from mario's previous 2D/3D outings. Still, I found it to be a little more enjoyable than the first Galaxy, and it has wonderful replay value, thanks to tight linear stage design and zippity retro mario controls.

Kind of, I said kind of you silly Wave lad.

There are some caveats, you've addressed them lol, but I think you have to consider the hardware. And for what my expectations were and for how successful this title was in its execution, I think it's worth mention as one of Mario's better outings. While the game didn't WOW me initially this turned out to be to Nintendo's credit - that they could work through various constraints, and still innovate on the signature Mario game play.

Mario works in three dimensions, and it seems like this title set out to prove that.

If u are an explorer i really recommend Luigis Mansion 2.

It has lots of secrets and stuff to discover.

Imo the best game on the 3ds so far.
