Oooo, Tetris! Is it coming to 3DS in North America as well?

I wonder how it will do compared to Tetris Axis.

Tetris Axis was a major disappointment compared to Tetris DS. Hopefully, this one will be less so. Hopefully, it'll coming to the USA.

I played a lot of download play Tetris Axis... but yeah overall it was not the greatest version of Tetris. I really hope Ultimate does come to the Wii U/3DS.

It would be foolish to go to the trouble of making it for 3DS and then not release it worldwide, so I'm sure we'll get it. It better be cheap to compete with Tetris Axis though.

Supposedly the game learns your play style so you can play against your friends even when they're not there. That sounds kind of cool.

I'm concerned that the images for the game only show you getting one piece preview though. That doesn't sound very '"ultimate" to me. You can't really setup for T-spins that much if you can't see when the next T piece is coming, unless you're going to hold the T, but it's much safer to hold the I.

I thought Tetris looked incredibly dull and boring the first time I ever saw a screenshot of it for Game Boy, but once I played it I felt so bad for judging it by its appearance. Have you really played it, and you still found it boring?

I'm not gonna lie, I can only handle Tetris for a short amount of time before I get bored. Or pissed off that I'm not getting enough straight pieces...

that's the Ubisoft published one right? Well, good to see someone realized 3DS exists instead of being stupid and ignoring success.

If they only just decided to add it for 3DS, maybe it's not too late for them to realize that Wii U exists too after E3 and have a change of heart for the Wii U. At least on Wii U they wouldn't be competing with Tetris Axis for sales and all the Tetris Party wi-fi is dead now. Plus, the sorts of people that buy Nintendo products are probably more likely to want to buy games like Tetris that aren't filled with violence.

What's to say that people who realize violence exists in our third dimensional reality and are able to filter it don't want to play Tetris?

I don't know, but judging by the number of violent games on other platforms, I think that's all some people like to play.

Sweet, apparently there are options for up to 4 piece previews, and it looks like the battle items don't totally suck for the first time since Tetris DS.

Ah but Tetris is the most violent game of all:

A tyrant possesses a great, infernal machine that consumes, at least in part, the bodies and souls of the oppressed people. On the tyrant's orders the guards round up the populace, no matter the shape or size or social standing, in order to feed them to the machine, and they do so, be the prisoner friend, family, lover, stranger or foe for they fear of being fed to the machines themselves.

The people are fed one at a time into a chamber where upon sorcery distorts and hardens the body into shapes based on the state of the soul, some bent a little (or a lot) out of shape, some doubled over on themselves. Some are straight as an arrow, these sweet souls are oft the hardest to find and therefore are often the ones most desired.

Upon being injected into the machine, dark winds move and turn these people, trying to find the ideal place to put them, as the more it absorbs at once the greater the pleasure. Once a solid horizontal layer of mass has settled, the machine devours it, no matter where it is placed. Some are lucky, they are the ones who are consumed instantly, but often the victims may find themselves missing a leg, a shoulder or even their entire midsection.

Unfortunately the more the machine is fed, the more it hungers. It pumps the helpless in faster and faster, trying to satisfy it's endless greed. The tyrant is compelled, whether by witchcraft or morbid curiosity, to feed the machine, to discover when, no IF, it will end. Even when the tyrant collapses from exhaustion they often dream of the machine. This is perhaps the blackest part, the machine's only purpose is to tally how much it has been fed. It judges not the value of the bodies or the souls of its victims, but rather mocks the tyrant with their growing damnation.

Whether by design or chance the machine's appetite will get the better of it, the people will be too fast for the wind to place and the machine will overflow. All the victims currently in the machine will be released of the curse, a blessing for those that have not been partly devoured by the machine already. Those that are able climb out of the machine (the rest, strangely, disappear) whereupon they depose the Tyrant and place a new one in their place. It must be the machines magic at work because the new tyrant feels it an ironic game to feed the old tyrant to it...

And the cycle begins anew

Don't get me started on naughts and crosses

Personally I'd rather Tetris Plus, rescuing that little dude is fun.

I liked Tetris 3DS more than most people, it seems. DS was still better - Touch Tetris in particular was great. I was disappointed that Ultimate was skipping Nintendo, so I'm pretty pleased 3DS is getting if.

The best thing about Tetris DS was the ranking system was really good for online battle, and finding people to battle online without items was easy, but I didn't especially like the single-player modes in that game, and even just for marathon it had infinite spin. The Tetris Party Deluxe games and Tetris Axis really screwed up the online by defaulting to items, so you basically had to play with items to find anyone, and the items were awful, so I basically only liked the single-player stuff in those games.

So this is showing as $29.99 on the Canadian eShop, same price as the $29.99 at retail. Is it the same on the US eShop? They had said it was going to be $19.99 on the eShop, so I was going to buy it there, but now I may just go retail instead then.
