Topic: Taking on Master Quest

I beat the game for the first time last night and what a great ending. Now, I just started Master Quest and died 4 times in the first dungeon

I wonder how bad I'm going to do in the up coming dungeons that will surely be even harder. Even exploring Kokiri Forest made it felt like a new game even though it's mirrored. Really excited in beating Master Quest

Note: I made this thread to keep people from posting about it and potentially spoiling things for those who haven't yet beat the original quest yet. You can say this is an end-game discussion thread. I recommend those who haven't beaten the original to not come here if they haven't beaten the game as spoilers may come up.

I'm on the Shadow Temple in Master Quest and it's so dam hard. D: Sailed through it on normal, but Master Quest truly is for the masters! This is also my first time doing Master Quest. :3

I'm still upset that Master Quest isn't available from the get-go and needs to be unlocked by beating the game once...

I've just beaten the normal game and will be starting Master Quest tomorrow. I've never played Master Quest before (despite the fact that I have the GameCube disc); I found the normal quest pretty easy (I didn't die at all), but I doubt that'll stand me in much stead for the Master Quest.

There was a Master Quest for the GCN? e.e I did not know that... dammit!

The normal playthrough is so easy, even the bosses are walks in the park. Same with Twilight Princess actually, impressive bosses, but easy as hell!

I must say though, the Water Temple gets worse on the Master Quest, its like walking in a completely new maze and to clarify that... its like walking in an already quite a hard maze that just got harder to navigate.

I don't know if I'll do much with the Master Quest once I complete the actual game. I played through the first dungeon back on GCN and to me it seemed like the Zelda version of SMB: The Lost Levels — a jacked up version of a game that I love.

When I close my eyes, I see pixilated blood.

I've never found the Water Temple particularly hard, so that shouldn't be a problem for me. It's more enemy strength I'm worried about, especially bosses.
As for Master Quest on the GameCube, in the US it was a pre-order bonus for Wind Waker. In Europe it was slightly easier to get hold of, as all initial copies of Wind Waker came as a 2-disc set, with the Master Quest disc as well (that's the version I have). The disc had both the normal version and the Master Quest on it.

Well, the Gamecube version of Master Quest isn't mirrored, so I read. MQ in this game is basically an altered MQ which is an altered OoT

I just finished the Master Quest in the past week, and it was a wonderful experience. I recall hearing some others on this site claim that they found the remixed dungeons to be easier; that wasn't my experience at all. Some of the puzzles were far, far harder than anything in the original game, often because they required you to do things that were either optional in the original (you must use the scarecrow multiple times to progress), that never had any effect in the original (like striking an already opened chest with your sword in order to trigger a hidden switch), or that are simply difficult to pull off (many cases, like hitting a switch with a Bombchu around a couple of tough corners).

Great fun. Far better than the original game, IMO. The doubled damage also added some tension to what had been pointlessly easy battles in the first game.
