Topic: System Transfer Question!

Not entirely on where to post this - was just just wondering if anyone could help solve a quick question I have regarding system transferring for the Nintendo 3DS. I have an ambassador 3DS w/ all 20 games on it and I'm soon going to purchase a USED 3DS w/ Luigi's Mansion pre-installed and Bravely Default bought from the E-Shop. The only concern I have is that I've read around that I may lose my Bravely Default download as well as Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon whenever trying to transfer over the ambassador games.

Will everything just fluidly merge into one (i.e. I keep my identification from the 3DS I'm transferring over the ambassador games from yet still retain the purchases the used 3DS owner bought on his system)? Or will I only be able to keep one or the other? Being, either the ambassador games or the games on the used system. If anyone could shine some light on their experiences w/ this situation I'd be more than grateful as I really wanna keep some of these GBA titles (I grew up w/ them!). Definitely don't want to lose all my data, so any steps or procedures taken in making this happen (regarding SD card transfers/pc saves, etc) would help greatly!

I've also read that Nintendo Identification may confuse things, or credit card information from the used 3DS may conflict w/ what I'm attempting to do here. If anyone has experience on any of this, please share! Sorta in the dark on what decision to make lol.

Thanks!

I believe eShop downloaded games are non-transferable. So no, there isn't a way to actually merge the contents of two different 3DS SD cards into a single system under a single new Nintendo ID.

My thought then becomes, can you get two different SD cards, do a transfer of one SD card's contents to the 3DS you want to use? Then just swap the two SD cards back and forth based on which set of games you want to play at a given time?

Nope, it's one or the other sadly. Least from what I've read.

I have a transfer question myself. I'm planning to get a New 3DS XL whenever they come over to North America. My plan is to trade in my current 3DS XL to help off set the cost.

But then... if I'm trading my current system in. I won't have it to transfer my data to my new system. Is there a way to do this? Will GameStop, or the like, give you the opportunity to do a system transfer before turning your system over?

Ummm the games do merge. I've done the transfer many times. Trust me I know that the games from both systems will be on the target system. If all the games don't appear on the system, they will still show up on the eShop under your downloads and you will be able to redownload them.

The only thing you will lose from the target system is the save data for the games and the streetpass data, when you do the transfer.

You can ask your Gamestop manager if you can do the transfer after you trade it in. You can tell him/her that you are formatting the system as well, which they do anyway. Most managers I know are nice about it...as long as you don't walk out with both of course.

Thank you SO much, Pokefanmum82.
That's exactly the kind of response I was hoping to hear!

The content will merge as long as there isn't a NNID set up on each system. If there is a NNID on each system, then you can only have one NNID linked at a time, and I think you actually have to reformat the system and link the other NNID in order to play the games that are associated with the other NNID, so that would be really annoying.

Hi All,,

Please bear with me as I am a middle-aged (young at heart) woman. I suffer from several chronic long- term medical problems that keep me at home 99% of the time. My memory/ concentration level is not what it should be due to my disease process and the medications I must take to stay alive. So I am literally going to spell out my questions and hope to be brief.

My friend, who lives in another state, has purchased my regular sized 3DS. I would love to be able to send the system to her with all the games/ apps that have been downloaded by me. Is this possible? How would I do it?

Also, could someone tell me how I would get off all my credit card info? How about getting off anything I have that's related to Nintendo, so that she can do what she wants with it? I know I have a few more questions than I intended to have and probably a few more that I can't put into words.

I'd like to pre- thank anyone and everyone who puts out a hand to help me. I will remain forever in your debt. Thanks again.

The same way as the old one. Download the transfer app and follow the instructions.
