I know this is gonna sound like bad creepypasta, but either someone on my friend list has access to some hidden feature on Swapnote that I do not, or someone at Nintendo is having fun trolling me.
I've searched the Internet for a related topic but can't seem to find one, so here goes:
On the 19th of March (this year of 2012), I received the strangest Swapnote. My Mii was attached to it, but with certain changes that made him (me) appear to be old. Old facial features like markings on the face and grey facial hair, along with an old/sad facial expression. Yeah, it was weird. Anyways, the handwriting of the swapnote was female. And it said the following:
"Blizzagaaa... this is your time-traveling self from the future... I was put into cryostasis but I came back... hello, past myself... D: "
I instantly knew I was being trolled.
But I was more humored by it than annoyed. So I decided to play along. I replied, "Good to know that my handwriting gets much better! " I send the letter and notice this recipient's name is Old Blizz. Okay. Then later, I receive another swapnote from this "Old Blizz", which says:
"TUNA SANDWHICH! It'sa me, Mario! Just kidding. It'sa me, Blizzaga!" (Blizzaga having emphasis by being underlined.) I reply again by saying "My handwriting is EXCELLENT in the future! " So the next day I decide to send a swapnote to all my contacts to find out if anyone else was trolling them in this manner. My letter said, "Anyone else get a note from their future selves? I have sexy FEMALE WRITING in the future! "
No one replied, except for Old Blizz with a full Swapnote which said, "Hmm yes, it is because two years from now, you will get a quarter sex transplant...one of the effects is sexy handwriting. Be glad you didn't get a half sex transplant, that changes your love interest. o_o ." And then I got one more from Old Blizz, this time in a deliberate style of shaky handwriting, saying, "Ungh... the cryostasis has caught up with me...goodbye...young Blizzag" and the message ended on the g with a long line as the g's tail as if the person were dieing and giving up on finishing the writing.
Still humored, I replied by saying, "At least I know how I'm gonna kick the bucket. Don't know if anyone else possesses such valuable insight. "
And I haven't received any reply since. Oddly enough, nothing from my other contacts either. Everything I told you is true and did happen. I know it sounds like dumb creepypasta, but was truthfully trolled by someone who took my Mii and made edits to make him look much older. xD
did you try checking your Friend List to see who'd switched their name to 'Old Blizz' and who was using that Mii for the duration of the stunt?

If someone did steal your name and Mii (not saying it didn't happen) the next time you check your 3DS open those messages again. If they switched thier Mii back to normal, it will show you the updated Mii...
For some reason, I'll believe you. Check the notes to see if the mii has changed. If it doesn't change soon check you friends list to see who's missing. If no one's missing call nintendo (Only if the mii in the note hasn't changed)
My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.
@blizzaga: you should be able to see their code on their Friend Card... if you've added people from NL, google search 'site:nintendolife.com/forums [3DS FC here]' to see who it pulls up. same goes for any other site you've added people from, you should be able to site:whateversitethatwas.com to see if it pulls anyone up. or heck, just google '3DS [3DS FC here]' to see what that nets you. :3

Yeah, probably a sort of funny prank. Ask around for that friend code, maybe you'll get lucky. I know there is a way to change date stamp, but not with the Mii.
