What makes me curious is that Sakurai said that the 3DS stages will represent a game on handheld consoles, and Balloon Trip is an NES title. Maybe they're not just bringing stages from Handheld games after all.

I do like that this stage features the old school "leave on one side, come out the other" screen edges, and I'm sure with the flippers and the infamous fish that this will be a fun and chaotic stage. I can just picture people throwing Bob-ombs and other such items "off screen" and have them hit characters on the opposite side of the stage.

Yep. I still have it too. I'm surprised the stage was pulled from an ambassador title though.

Balloon Kid was also a Game Boy game, so the series does have portable ties.

Anyway, I'm glad it loops in order to make K.O.'s more tactical.

I kinda hope not... Maybe you can freely walk in one side and out the other but getting knocked into the side counts a KO. Much like how you can't KO yourself by jumping high into the sky (with a couple of exceptions).

Yeah, that's how I think it might work, too.
Although, it'd be interesting of you did have to KO someone by sending them through the top or bottom.

What if... Characters really can't be knocked out from the sides, but sending someone flying and looping around the stage eventually makes it hit one of the spinning things and that makes the character blast up or down, depending on their location!
