I liked it. the kart mode's a little annoying, and monkey fight has way too much button mashing in every action but all in all it's a game with goals and variety which is nice for a launch title.

Circle pad control is awesome.

For the most part, I haven't spent a lot of time with the game, but it seems pretty enjoyable. The 3D effects aren't as good as Pilotwings, but I think there is still a good sense of depth (especially in the menus.) I don't expect launch titles to be great games, they are tech demos most of the time, so i wasn't expecting SMB3D to be amazing, but overall I am pleased. =] Also, played Monkey Fight, which was pretty clunky but still kind of fun...just makes me wish they would release a Super Smash Bros. 3DS!

I really enjoyed this game. Went back and perfected the entire game and I've unlocked everything in all three modes. Loved that Kororinpa feel to it. That being said, I would have liked to have seen more worlds and levels in the main game.

So you completed the game 100%? Can you explain how to acquire a medal and a banana icon for each world? The manual doesn't explain them. I'm positive that I got all the bananas in most of the worlds, but I only have a banana icon on the first world for some reason. It probably stands for something else. Maybe the medals stand for collecting all the bananas?

You get the bananas for collecting the special bananas in each stage, and you get the c medal for beating the world with the circle pad, and the m medal for beating the world with the motion tilting. i believe thats all true, but I'm confused like you, i have collected all the bananas and beaten each world, and i received the banana and medals for each world except for 5. i just rebeat it, and still nothing. very confusing

Okay so after playing the game some more, it appears as though you get the banana medal for getting all of the bananas in a world, though I did that for world 5 and it didn't show up (although it finally gave me my c medal, even though it was my 5th time beating it....).

if anyone has any other ideas, id like to know how it all works.

also, a list of all the collectables and how to get them would be helpful too. i have the ones for each world, along with one for beating a level without getting any bananas, but i dont know how to get the rest

I just replayed the 5th world and obtained both the medal and banana. Maybe you missed something? I also replayed the 6th world, used 3 continues (because I kept messing up in 6-3), searched for every single banana but didn't get the banana:S

Edit: About the collectibles. I also have the Buzzer Beater (or something). You need to finish a stage with 00.00 time left. Got it by total accident.

I believe you have to hit 50,000 points in order to earn a medal in a world. Otherwise you just "complete" it.

I got less than 5.000 points in World 7 and I still obtained a medal, so I don't think it has anything to do with your scores. You just need to beat the stages including the bonus stage (perfected).

Foud 2 more items: SPOILER

-Banana-Phobe: You cleared a stage without eating a single banana!

I'm pretty sure you can't use any continues in a world if you want the Banana metal. I tried getting one in world 2 but I had to use a continue and I didn't get the metal, tried it again using no continues and I got it. So, I'm fairly certain that is the reason.

Yep, you're right Yasume. Good catch man. Wish I'd known that before I hit 50,000 on all worlds. LOL

To get a m or c medal all you have to do is get all the bananas in the bonus stage of the world your in. You cant go to the practice mode to do this. I know this because I got the world master collectible and it says " You completed every world and got all the bananas in each Bonus Stage using the Motion Sensor and Circle Pad!". They don`t count the 8th world when you get this medal. And I got this right after I got the world 7 m medal.

I'm still buying it but I'm really dissappointed that it's apparently still not the quality of the first 2 games. I bet it's not even techno music.

I thought it was far to easy. I breezed through the game in a day and never found the levels to have any challenging gimmicks.

I did like how creative the worlds got though.

Thanks for sharing, shinesprite. I'm pretty sure that this leaves us with only 3 unknown items.

@Corbs: That is still a nice accomplishment.

Okay, we are now only missing 2 only collectibles. We are currently trying out the following:

  • Beating all worlds (including 8) without a continue, including finishing all bonus levels
  • Do a continue-free run while getting all bananas in all worlds (including 8)
  • Playing as all characters (one level / one world / all levels / completion)

Here are the 14 discovered items so far. It will contain spoilers obviously.

  • Find the special Banana in World 1
  • Find the special Banana in World 2
  • Find the special Banana in World 3
  • Find the special Banana in World 4
  • Find the special Banana in World 5
  • Find the special Banana in World 6
  • Find the special Banana in World 7
  • Find the special Banana in World 8
  • Banana-phile: Find all bananas in Worlds 1-7
  • Banana-phobe: Finish any level without getting a single banana
  • Un-touchable: Finish a world without a shocking encounter with a wall
  • Buzzer Beater: Finish a level with 00:00 time left
  • World Challenger: You have played every world.
  • World Master: You completed every world and got all the bananas in each Bonus Stage using the Motion Sensor and Circle Pad!
  • ???
  • ???

just played it through on a full charge! Perfect intro-to-3DS game....and I cannot believe how deep the levels looked.

It was pretty easy...but I really enjoyed it and could see myself going through the levels (and letting new-to-3DS friends go through the levels) several more times.

Monkey Race was kinda cool as well. The physics are kinda rough, but the spin-turn mechanic is kinda nifty once you get the hang of it. Still can't figure out when drifting would be a good idea....or braking for that matter. The biggest problem is that the items are even more debilitating than Mario Kart. Almost any item results in the loss of 3-4 places barring insane luck/course memorization when hit w/ 3D glasses. I still had fun playing it earlier though and it has me amped for a 3DS Mario Kart (or knock-on-wood, an F-Zero)

Monkey Fight didn't make a whole lot of sense to me though...dunno what I was or wasn't doing, but I seemed to have 2 basic attacks and a jump while computer opponents were throwing out all sorts of craziness...I'll give it more of a shot later (my battery ran out in the middle of my second fight...big surprise, I know ) but right now it's my least favorite of the 3 modes.
