Topic: New Super Mario bros. 2 Easter egg in Ocarina?

We all know there are Easter eggs scattered within Ocarina of Time 3D. One in particular I was looking at is located early on in the game where you meet Zelda after traversing through the garden full of guards. If you look through the window on the left you are able to see a 2D side scrolling super Mario level . Is it just me or did Nintendo purposely hint at New Super Mario Bros 2 right there way before official anouncement? Haha maybe we should take a closer look at what's put in our games!

Not exactly. That scene replaced the pictures of Yoshi, Mario, and Peach in the original game. No hints at any future title

I think it's more of a New Super Mario Bros 1/Wii easter egg... It's hard to know because they all look almost the same though.

It's more of a general Mario easter egg, than one aimed at a particular game in the series (the original release on the 64 had pictures of Mario, Yoshi, Peach, ect in the windows).

The only completely new easter eggs in the game are the three Skyward Sword posters (well, there's also an added hint that the mask salesman in OoT could be the same one from Majora's Mask, instead of just a reused character model).

It could very well easily be a hint. I recall a month or so after OOT came out that they were planning to do something NSMB related, but they didn't say much else there.

The mask salesman is the same character in both OoT and MM.

You meet him as young Link in OoT remember. So when Zelda splits the story timeline and sends Link back as a child that we play as in MM, He already knows the mask salesman. Both their memories are hazy though.

The Mask Salesman has a Mario reference hanging from his backpack though!

One Skyward sword poster in the thieves Hideout, I think another is in Lon Lon ranch, and I can't remember where the other one is.

While it did replace that - it is most likely from New Super Mario Bros (possibly Wii or DS), and that could still of been a hint to a future title.

Except it isn't and probably wasn't hinting at a future game. It just replaced what was their in the N64 version and that wasn't hinting at anything that was planned at the time. Hit the pipe with your slingshot and you get a bomb thrown at you that's pretty much it. References to the past? Yes. Zelda almost has a love affair with referencing Mario and co from past adventures but hinting at future games within games? Nintendo? No way!

As for the Skyward Sword posters: one in Lon Lon Ranch (future), and one in the thieves hide out (both are only accessable as an adult). the third is in the Bombchu shop (only as a kid).

As for MM reference. the Mask Salesman's backpack that he wore in MM is now behind the counter in his shop (that detail wasn't in the 64 version). Also, the same masks that covered his backpack in MM now decorate the walls of his shop in OoT3D (the Mario is the toughest one to spot, behind a mirror).

please don't cry "spoilers" to me, these are in no way important to the game's story, I never exactly said how to find the posters in those areas, and the MM stuff is pretty much out in the open if you're actually paying attention.
