Ugh...I know I said those were the last ones, but I got the speedrun bug, so here's another. Oh, and this one. It's kinda hard to shave time off an automatic sidescrolling level.
Hello everyone, here are 2 records I think are pretty good.
World 1-1: 35 sec World 2-3: 46 sec
It took me about 50 lives to get the 35 sec one, I couldn't believe it when I saw it, I had a couple of lucky bounces on the broken bridge near the end. And the second one I think it is going to be a tough one to beat, although there are many ways to get to the finish so someone could find something really easy to beat it. I recommend getting hit on the last platform to lose the hat so you can jump while pressing r bumper, and get the star.
Hope these are good records, I will try and beat some of the others. I really wish nintendo could have integrated a world wide ranking, like in mario kart wii.

@Dark_TeeJay: I think I might be getting a little bit overwhelmed here, so if possible... since you're the top contributor at the moment, I'd like to deputize you in verifying other user's times...verified to your satisfaction that it can be done within the time they stated. I'll need to chat you about the path taken to shave 22 seconds off W8-Bowser, but in the meantime, I'll start working on verifying your record times. Good work by the way.

How do you get 5 seconds on 7-1? Do you have to long-jump to the flag that's across the water?
Two long jumps in the direction of the flag as Tanooki Luigi, a milisecond-long run, then a flutter jump to the wooden fence, and finally another long jump into the flag. Here's a video: [youtube:wtzExWdjTKA]
@Dark_TeeJay : That was a tough record to beat, I have seen the game over screen like 10 times. I slowly started to lower my time on 2-3, until I ended up getting 41 seconds. It was pretty tough, I did it using luigi and no power ups. although I think it is easier with the Tanooki Suit. the trick is to use L+Y before the ramp and on mid air use the flying box to take you to the next platform. Is this what you are doing?
@sykotek ; thanks, altough I probably shouldn't celebrate for too long, I am sure Dark_TeeJay will soon take like 5 seconds or something out of the record.

Sure I can do that...but what do I do if I actually beat their times in the process? I ask this because I just beat dmillos's 2-3 in doing so.
@Link977 I don't want to sound like a sore loser; I'm sure you beat my record, but I think for a claim like that, you're going to need photographic proof. It's all up to syko though.
I'm so sorry syko! Here's 8-3 at 56 seconds. and 8-4 at 120 seconds. 8-3 was pretty tough to pull off.

When you beat the game again, it'll show your best time. Take a pic of that or in the meantime, verify the path you took and method used to shave 10 seconds. If it can be reproduced within reason, It'll be acknowledged then.

My method for 1-Castle (Now, time for everyone to beat me) I had a tanooki suit, and I just jumped to the button which dropped the bridge, but I was Mario, so you guys could probably beat me since I don't have Luigi
