Post your ideas for what you would want out of a sequel to Super Mario 3D Land here. What would you guys like to see? Koopalings? A more detailed world map? Gravity elements from Super Mario Galaxy to make a return?

You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!

Uh, yeah. Hardly. It's just a hypothetical question. Sheesh.

A game more like Super Mario 64. A better hub. Super Mario 3D Land is overrated.

Already?

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Well I guess this is a thread to those who have completed the game and know every single bit of it. What would you want to improve or expand upon? What would you want in a sequel to it?

I'm being serious in my above statement. It's a good game, but it's short even adding the extra levels.

All right here are my complaints. MORE 3D LEVELS. Nintendo claimed they were making a hybrid of 2D and 3D levels in this game but 75% of the level design was linear. C'mon!

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Yeah, I mean I beat it pretty quick but really no more quickly than I bet NSMBW. Mario games are generally short. So I guess your answer to the question would be more levels?

Patiently waiting for Super Mario 4D Land...

My answer is a game that doesn't feel lazily slapped together. I'm going to enjoy any Mario platformer to some extent, but this one does feel lazy.

If they are going to have a world map, the least they could do is make one as inspired as Super Mario World. In that game it feels like you are progressing. In this game I feel nothing.

Agreed with you on the level map thing. It wasn't even a map at all, just a level selection screen.

like i wanted from a NSMB2, I want to see elements of Super Mario Bros 2 (US) used in one of these revamps eventually — vegetables and enemies to pick up and throw, secret doors, potions to throw and dark world segments to explore, different bosses, etc. and so forth. i wouldn't mind if it didn't introduce any new suits (the new suits in general tend to be the least interesting thing for me; i hated the shell suit and the boomerang suit doesn't interest me either), i just want something taking SMB2 to another level and legitimizing it as a Mario title instead of leaving it forever the black sheep of the series, the ideas it brings to the table left to rot.

I personally think Super Mario Land 2 is the black sheep of the series. It's an underrated gem, and the game's only new powerup (Bunny Ears) hasn't appeared in any Mario game since.

A mario and Sonic crossover game. Take the style's of both Super Mario 3D land and Sonic Generations on console. So you have these really cool 3D/2D blend levels with the sonic part playing like colors and the part playing like 3D land. Add in power ups and a simple story and im there. Handheld would be perfect as it gets around the the whole sonic can talk but mario can't thing. (granted that hasn't been in a problem since mario is the only person in the mushroom kingdom who can't talk.

@tendoboy: the NSMB series hasn't really taken anything from the GB handheld series, though, so that's not what i'm talking about.

We all know Nintendo and Sega are more content with rehashing Mario & Sonic Olympic games. They'll never make a proper Mario & Sonic platformer/adventure game.

Oh, you want a NSMB style game with elements from SMB2? Well, many of the enemies that originated in SMB2 have appeared in later games (Bob-Ombs, Pokey, Shy Guy, Birdo, etc.). There were Bob-Ombs and Pokeys in NSMB DS and NSMB Wii)
