Topic: StreetPass Woes

Yesterday I took a quick drive over to Chicago to watch the Air and Water Show from the beach (excellent show btw!) and I anxiously brought my 3DS in anticipation of getting tons of StreetPasses. I figured it wouldn't be hard, since there were easily over 5,000 people that I walked by. Yet, by the end of the day, I ended up getting one measly StreetPass, and it happened to just be my girlfriend's lol Hopefully this starts to change as the price drop increases sales!

I feel you. The only StreetPass hits I've ever picked up were at E3. I got 10 that day and I haven't gotten a hit since.

The problem is you went to the wrong kind of show. Maybe not many other people want to risk taking their 3DS's to the beach. Try going someplace like to a movie gamers would go to, or a popular gaming store.

I've been taking mine everywhere i go since I got it the day it was released.......I've been to several different events this summer with thousands of people there. I've had a total of 3 streetpass hits.....and one of them appears to be a nintendo employee because I got the hit while my 3ds was out being repaired......so i've really only received 2.

I get them all the time where I work, though I do work in a gaming store. I have even had a street pass from a French 3DS owner due to the amount of foreign students that come to shop here.

I figured that hahah I thought that the majority of the hits would be from the drive or from the long walk to the beach. I did actually see a guy playing one in a Dunkin Donuts, but unfortunately StreetPass only works in sleep mode =( hahah oh well, my system might be going into a repair soon, so hopefully I get one or two there lol

Last week I had mine with me when I was in London. The place was crawling with people - one of the busiest times I've ever seen it there and I only got 3 hits. Yet a few days later I went to the cinema in a small town. There were only 5 other people in the theatre and I managed to get a hit off one of them. Go figure.

I'm in Cinicinnati. I've had a total of 22; 11 of those were from Demo Units. As for the best locations to get a tag, its hit or miss. The one place I didn't expect to get one was Ikea. I had a chance for much more at a convention in Columbus (too many OSU fans) over the weekend but I didn't go.

I walked past a pride parade and got 2 hits, so if you hear about any parades happening, you might want to walk past all the people along the route.

Never got a Streetpass, don't expect I ever shall. Maybe I'll call it broken and send it in for repairs just for the hit.

Bad luck for you, as big events in Chicago will usually net you a few StreetPasses. I should know; I got 26 tags going to the Taste of Chicago for one day and Pitchfork Music Festival for all 3 days.

My friend got a few from the Airport this summer when he was travel to and from Disney World. He also got a few from the hotel he was staying at as well.

That would be my suggestion especially in the Chicago area check those hotels of course it might be slow now due to the fact that the summer travel time is over pretty much.

I get hits all the time _{from my kids lol} But seriously, I've only got two from outside of my family. One was at a shopping mall and the other was a demo unit from someplace. I'm hoping when I head to Disney World in October, I'll get a few more.

@Magi: My friend got most of this hits from the Hotel he was staying at when he went to Disney World rather than that park itself.

I've gotten some StreetPass hits at an arcade here in Chicago. Other than that I've only gotten them from my friend.

I got 2 from walking in Las Vegas and 3 for walking all day in Disneyland.

You can bet i was waiting more from these places.

You were lucky, I was in London last week and didnt get a thing...
Wakefield and Pontefract on the other hand I always come away with atleast three or four each day I go there... They always say people are friendlier up north so mabey the 3DS owners in London just dont have their 3DS in sleep mode for fear of randomly being picked up by strangers. lol

I got five on a daytrip to London, but that's it so far apart from one from a friend.
What's annoying is that as far as I can tell it only works in sleep mode. So if you're actually using your 3DS and another 3DS owner walks by, you won't get a hit.

I have got three street pass hits, two of them random people who go to my college and the third my friend who has his 3ds on my all the time but never has it on :/

I've only gotten two other people, including SuperOtaku! Maybe the number will increase during the holidays...
